Tiger Woods reveals how Charlie Woods handles pressure
Tiger Woods gave an interview after the 2024 PNC Championship pro-am and responded to a journalist's question about how Charlie Woods has been handling the pressure in the face of comparisons and expectations aplenty.
"Yeah, I mean, I just am always reminding him, just be you," Tiger said. "Charlie is Charlie. Yes, he's my son. He's going to have the name, and he's going to be part of the sport. But I just want him to be himself and just be your own person. That's what we will always focus on. I will always encourage him to carve his own name, carve his own path, and have his own journey."
Continuing further, Woods said Charlie is doing a great job in handling the pressure and expectations and said he tried to do the best job as a parent and is always there with him to support.
"I think he's doing a great job. In this day and age where you have so many different -- everyone is basically media with all the phones. Being constantly filmed and constantly just -- people watching him, that's just part of his generation, and that's part of the world that he has to maneuver through. I try and do the best job I possibly can as a parent. I'm always here for him. But at the end of the day, I just want him to be himself and have his own life," he added.
Tiger Woods and his son Charlie Woods are teeing off at the PNC Championship for the fifth consecutive year. They first competed in this exhibition event in 2020 and are yet to register a win. Their best finish came in 2021, where they finished T2 for the event and remained just two strokes behind the leader.
