The DP World Tour Team Cup will be played from January 10-12 at the Abu Dhabi Golf Resort in the United Arab Emirates. This is the second edition of the event and marks the return of the European Tour for the 2025 season.
The Team Cup will pit a team representing continental Europe against a team representing Great Britain and Ireland. The event follows the general idea of the Ryder Cup, with the Continental team captained by Francesco Molinari and the British team captained by Justin Rose.
Like the Ryder Cup, the Team Cup will feature matches in foursomes, four-ball and singles formats. However, there are some specific differences between the two events.
The teams consist of 10 players and all of them will play every day. The first day will feature one fourball, the second day will feature two foursomes, and the final day will feature 10 singles.
Team Cup Teams at a Glance
The Team Cup is a way for the European team to prepare for the Ryder Cup and for players who have a chance of playing at Bethpage Black in September 2025 to gain experience by playing together.
For this reason, the teams were not formed through a ranking system but the players were selected directly in consultation with European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald.
The 2025 edition of the event will be unique in that both captains will also be players. Both Molinari and Rose have already announced their respective teams which will consist of the following players:
Continental Europe:
- Italy - Francesco Molinari (c)
- Denmark - Nicolai Højgaard
- Denmark - Rasmus Højgaard
- France - Romain Langasque
- Italy - Matteo Manassero
- Denmark - Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen
- Denmark - Niklas Nørgaard
- Denmark - Thorbjørn Olesen
- France - Matthieu Pavon
- France - Antoine Rozner
Great Britain and Ireland
- England - Justin Rose (c)
- England - Laurie Canter
- England - Tommy Fleetwood
- England - Tyrrell Hatton
- England - Matthew Jordan
- Northern Ireland - Tom McKibbin
- England - Aaron Rai
- England - Jordan Smith

A highlight is the presence of Tyrrell Hatton in the British team. The fact that the LIV Golf star has been called up directly for this event confirms the DP World Tour's assurances that LIV players will be eligible to play in the 2025 Ryder Cup.
In 2023, the continental team was also led by Molinari and defeated the British 14.5 points to 10.5 points. The British were captained by Tommy Fleetwood, who returns in 2025 but only as a player.
Unlike the Ryder Cup, the Team Cup has prize money. In 2023, the purse was $2 million, with $125,000 going to each player on the winning team and $75,000 to the losing team.
