American professional golfer Collin Morikawa, a two-time major champion, placed 14th in his debut event, the 2019 RBC Canadian Open. Following his fourth-place result in the 2019 John Deere Classic, he joined the PGA Tour.
During his amateur career, he won eleven titles, including the Sunnehanna Amateur in 2016 and the Northeast Amateur in 2017. In May 2018, he also held the top spot on the World Amateur Golf Ranking for three weeks.
Morikawa became the fourth golfer to win the PGA Championship before turning 24 in August 2020, when he did so at the age of 23. The only record that matches his professional start is Tiger Woods' 25 consecutive PGA Tour cuts. It's interesting to see that his style of play is compared favorably to Woods', considering both players are excellent all-arounders.
In the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship, Morikawa defeated Billy Horschel, Viktor Hovland, and Brooks Koepka by a total score of three strokes. He defeated Jordan Spieth by two shots to win the Open Championship that same year. Since Bobby Jones in 1926, he has been the only player to win two majors in eight or fewer starts.
He ended his 27-month winless drought on the PGA Tour in October when he defeated Eric Cole and Beau Hossler by six shots in the 2023 Zozo Championship. His seven professional victories include the 2021 DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, six on the PGA Tour and four on the European Tour.

Collin Morikawa’s Driver
In 2024, Morikawa seemed undecided about which of the new Qi10 models to replace the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus driver he used last year. He was winning with the Qi10 Max at first, but he recently converted to the regular Qi10 driver at the Farmer's Insurance Open.
He then changed once more for his next competition, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am, where he used the Qi10 LS, which is used by players like Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods.
Morikawa has 9.5 degrees of loft with an 8 degree head. In terms of shaft, Morikawa is an avid Mitsubishi fan, using the Diamana D+ Limited in all of his woods. He uses the 60TX model in the driver and the 80TX design in his two fairway woods.

Collin Morikawa’s Fairways
As of April 2024, Morikawa carries three-wood (14 degrees) and five-wood (18 degrees). The latter is a TaylorMade Qi10 fairway wood, and the former is a SIM Ti variant. Both are debatably among the greatest TaylorMade fairway woods.
Golf Monthly tested the Qi10 on the golf course, and they were really pleased with its performance. The main reason it is a very consistent club that accepts players with less expertise is that the club head has a reduced weight distribution.
The lower-spin Qi10 Tour fairway wood has both loft and sliding weight adjustability to truly dial in the ball trajectory, while the basic Qi10 fairway wood is the middle option among the three in the range, delivering a mid spin and launch profile along with a fixed hosel.
Collin Morikawa’s Irons
Morikawa starts with a TaylorMade P770 four-iron when it comes to irons, and he uses the most recent TaylorMade P7MCs from five irons down to six irons. Then, from the seven-iron to the pitching wedge, he plays TaylorMade P7CMs; however, he has been known to replace some of the P7MCs with more of these.
Given how well he plays the irons and how much forgiveness they offer, he chooses the P770 as his longest iron. He makes use of the True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 irons, which are a highly-liked model on the Tour, in all of his clubs.
Collin Morikawa’s Wedges
Morikawa carries a 60 degree TaylorMade MG4 TW model, which is specifically designed for Tiger Woods, in addition to two 50 and 56 degree TaylorMade Milled Grind 4 wedges. These are some of the greatest golf wedges for spin control because Tiger is arguably the most precise player in the game.
The MG4 TW is ranked as one of the best wedges for chipping by Golf Monthly, and TaylorMade produces some of the greatest golf wedges available for purchase.
Collin Morikawa’s Putter
Morikawa began the 2024 season with the TaylorMade TP Soto in his bag, equipped with a LA Golf shaft, but has since upgraded to the Logan Olsen blade prototype variant ahead of the Players Championship.
According to TaylorMade, Collin is "a tried and true blade guy." Although he has occasionally experimented with a mallet, he primarily uses a blade putter, with a single dot serving as his sightline.
Collin Morikawa’s Golf Ball
Morikawa uses TP5 ball, interestingly, he preferred the lower-spinning, harder type of the TP5x when he first started playing professionally.
He discovered, though, that it had a detrimental effect on his chipping since he felt like he was scooping the ball as a result of not spinning the ball enough. He tried the TP5 ball as a result, and it appears to be effective.
Having a conversation with Golf.com, Morikawa stated, “It took me a week or two to really get used to the feel of the TP5 ball. I had really never used that soft of a ball. It took me a little time, but I’ve gotten used to it now. It feels completely normal. My wedges spin great. It feels great off the putter. I like a soft feel off the putter anyway. it’s just been awesome around the greens—feel, everything; in the wind it’s amazing, too. It’s been a great ball and definitely a great switch. Easy transition to say the least.”
Collin Morikawa’s Apparel & Shoes
The adidas ZG23 shoe, which Morikawa uses because she has an apparel contract with the brand, is incredibly light, stable, and comfortable. It will provide golfers of all swing speeds with complete support throughout the swing.
According to Golf Monthly, this is one of the greatest spiked golf shoes available, even though the style isn't as sleek as some other adidas models.
