The 2024 US Open is set to be played at the esteemed Pinehurst No. 2 course from June 13 to 16. The 156-player field will not only be competing for the trophy, but they will also be competing for the massive $20 million purse prize and a ten-year exemption into the tournament.

As the world's best players seek to pick up a Major title this week, the 2024 US Open marks the 124th edition of the tournament. The lowest 72-hole score in the Open's history is held by Rory McIlroy. The Irish native shot scores of 65, 66, 68, and 69 to total 16 under par 268 at the Congressional Country Club in 2011 to break the record. Brooks Koepka recorded a 16 under par 272 score. The LIV Golf star carded in rounds of 67, 70, 68, and 67.

There are nine players inducted into the United States Golf Association's record for the lowest 72-hole score in the US Open's history. Gary Woodland and Martin Kaymer's 271 with rounds of 68, 65, 69, and 69 and 65, 65,72,69, respectively, make the list. While Woodland made the 13 under par accomplishment in 2019 at Pebble Beach Golf Links, Kaymer set the mark at this year's venue, the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club, in 2014, with a 9 under par score.

Wyndham Clark follows Mcllroy with a 10 under par 270 score with rounds of 64, 67, 69, and 70 at the 2023 US Open held at the Los Angeles Country Club. Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and two others are the last on the list with scores of 272. Woods set the record during his iconic win at the 2000 US Open with rounds of 65, 69, 71, and 67 at the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

McIlroy also holds the record for the lowest score played by a non-winner of the US Open. In the 2023 edition of the event, he posted a score of nine under par 271. Scheffler rides behind at a seven under par 273 score, which was also recorded at the Los Angeles Country Club last year.
