Hideki Matsuyama captured the win at The Sentry this week. The eleven time PGA Tour winner started off the year with a bang following a record breaking 35 under par 257 score at the challenging Kapalua Plantation Course and Resort.
The win is the product of his skill, mindset, and his perfectly curated custom equipment. Matsuyama broke the PGA Tour's 72-hole score record with a new prototype putter and an unreleased golf ball in his arsenal.

Hideki Matsuyama opens up about his new custom putter
Hideki Matsuyama debuted a new, never-before-seen putter in his bag this week at The Sentry. The PGA Tour's first winner of the year is now wielding the special 009M Center Shaft Tour Prototype from Titleist's Scotty Cameron.
While the popularity of center shafted putters are growing in professional golf, it was a first for Matsuyama. Following the conclusion of the first round of the tournament on Thursday at the Kapalua Plantation Course, the 11-time winner revealed his reason for leaving his Craftsman Squareback putter behind.
He said (via PGA Tour):
"I saw somebody else using it and I thought, 'Oh, this looks good,' so I had them [Scotty Cameron] make one, and I'm using it this week."
Needless to say, the change has worked wonders for Matsuyama this week. He gained 5.417 stokes in putting to rank third in the field. The Augusta Masters winner's ability to hole tricky putts helped him card in the most birdies this week with a whopping 33 holes broken par.
Paired with his stellar chipping skills, he successfully executed eight out of nine up-and-downs, resulting in a scrambling percentage of 88.89%. Matsyama averaged 1.56 putts per green in regulation, holing a total of 98 feet of putts this week.
