PNC Championship Format at a Glance
The PNC Championship will be played over 36 holes on Saturday and Sunday, although the professionals also play a pro-am event on Friday. The official tournament features 20 teams consisting of one professional and one amateur family member.
Due to the varied skill levels of our players in this special event, the rules are unique. The most obvious one is that players do not all tee off from the same tee, but rather from the tee that corresponds to their age or skill level.
The format in which the game is played is scramble. In this modality, each member of the team hits his tee shot before choosing the ball that is in the best position. From there, they take their second shot, and the process is repeated until the ball is holed.
PGA Tour players start on the back tees, while LPGA Tour professionals and PGA Tour champions start on the immediate front tees. The rest of the players play from the farthest forward tees in line with their age and ability.
The PNC Championship is an invitational event reserved for Major Champions (male and female) or winners of The Players Championship (male). They compete as a duo with a family member, regardless of gender or age.
