His clubs have been with him since November 2016 but has played the same irons with different shafts prior to the switch. These clubs were designed for him to play in the blustery conditions of Texas in the United states. Previously, he played clubs that suited the Asian conditions of soft golf courses.
He carries a mix of nuts, almonds, cranberries and raisins. Viraj also carries bananas, a home made energy bar of peanut butter and granola.
He carries a big tee and a small tee in his right pocket and randomly picks one out of the above pictured markers for the day.
Viraj Madappa has been ranked as high as 45th in the world on the Official World Amateur Golf ranking, by far the best ranked Indian amateur ever. His biggest achievements include winning the Taiwan World Amateur Championship in 2015 and finishing third at the Singapore Open Amateur Championship in 2016.
He is coached by Tarun Sardesai who is based out of Zion Hill Country Club in Bangalore, India.
His favourite players include Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods.
