The 54-year-old, Canadian golfer, Mike Weir, was born on May 12, 1970, in Sarnia, Canada. The golfer completed his studies at Brigham Young University and started playing golf professionally in 1992. Currently, he plays from Brights, GRV of Canada, and lives in Sandy, Utah in the USA.

Weir worked as a caddie at the Huron Oaks Golf Club when he was 11. He dreamed of playing on the PGA Tour when he was 14. Weir's name was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 2009. He was recognized as Canada's top athlete and won the Lou Marsh Trophy in 2003. He has also won the Lionel Conacher Award thrice.
When Weir was 11, he wrote to Jack Nicklaus asking if he should switch to playing golf with his right hand. As quoted by the Canadian encyclopedia, Nicklaus said:
“If you are a good player left-handed, don’t change anything especially if that feels natural to you.”
Weir listened to him and implemented it. He represented his school, St. Clair Secondary School in Sarnia, and won three times back-to-back at the Western Athletic Conference golf championships from 1990 to 1992.
