Eugenio Chacarra is playing the 2024 LIV Golf Andalucia at the Real Club Valderrama. After the first 36 holes, Chacarra is the highest-placed Spaniard in the event, as he sits T3 with a score of 2 under.

Chacarra was born in March 2000 in Madrid, Spain. He learned to play golf at a very young age, under the guidance of his father. At the age of 9, he was ranked the best junior player in Madrid, a position he held for eight consecutive years.

Chacarra's junior golf career was very successful. During his years in this category, he won more than 100 tournaments and was ranked in the top 50 of the world amateur rankings.

In 2018, he received a scholarship to play American collegiate golf for Wake Forest University. He stayed there for two seasons and became one of the top players on the team. In his freshman season, he was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Year.

After the 2019–2020 season, Chacarra decided to transfer to Oklahoma State University. Notably, Oklahoma State's program has produced current fellow LIV Golf player Talor Gooch, among others. With the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Chacarra played two more collegiate seasons, continuing to produce good results. So much so that he reached the #2 spot in the world amateur rankings.

His amateur career includes wins at the 2017 Grand Prix de Landes, 2019 Andalusia Cup, 2021 European Amateur Team Championship (individual medal), 2022 Amer Ari Invitational, 2022 National Invitational Tournament and 2022 NCAA Columbus Regional, among others.

Chacarra's sister, Carolina, is also a golfer who currently plays collegiate golf in the United States for Wake Forest University. Eugenio and Carolina have a special relationship when it comes to golf. This is how the LIV Player described it while speaking to the Golf Digest:

"When we go to the course, we’re playing for something, whether it’s having to clean the clubs or drive the car home. We like putting some pressure on the line."

Eugenio Chacarra's professional career at a glance

Eugenio Chacarra interrupted his college studies to join LIV Golf in the circuit's inaugural season (2022). The Spaniard had an excellent debut, earning his first professional victory in his fifth start (2022 LIV Golf Bangkok).

However, Chacarra's career to date has been one of ups and downs. In 28 tournaments, he has finished in the top 10 only twice. This includes his victory in Thailand.

In the 2022 season, Chacarra finished 16th in the season's individual rankings. He placed 32nd in 2023 and is currently ranked 41st in 2024. This position puts him close to the so-called "drop zone", the group of players who can be relegated at the end of the season.
