The world's No. 1 golfer, Scottie Scheffler, was born on June 21, 1996, in Ridgewood. A professional since 2018, he has 18 professional wins, with most of them being either signature events or majors. After securing his PGA Tour card in 2020, he defeated Patrick Cantlay in the playoffs at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open to mark his first victory on the tour. However, his first professional win was at the 2019 Evan Scholars Invitational during his time on the Korn Ferry Tour. Scheffler has held the world No. 1 spot for more than 130 weeks as of April 2025, which he first attained after his 2022 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play win against Kevin Kisner.
Scottie Scheffler's Caddie
Scottie Scheffler's caddie is Ted Scott as of April 2025.
Before 2021, Scott had worked as Bubba Watson's caddie for 15 years, and after giving up Watson's bag, Scott, who also teaches golf online, planned to concentrate more on his teaching skills. He had been a caddie for more than two decades and had worked for Paul Azinger and Grant Waite. Scott admits that he and Bubba Watson are still good friends but have different ideas about life and ambition.
Ted Scott asked his family about being Scheffler's caddie, as asked, and they gave him their blessing to do it. Since Scott started working with Scheffler in November 2021, they have achieved several notable victories together. Scheffler won his first PGA Tour event with Scott at the RSM Classic in November 2021, which was only the beginning of the coming major wins.
However, during the 2024 PGA Championship, Scottie had to find a temporary caddie, given that Ted had to leave during the event to attend his daughter's high school graduation in Louisiana. Ted left after the second round of the event and was temporarily replaced by Scheffler's old friend, Chaplain Brad Payne.
Payne was selected three times for the All-WCC team during his college golf days at Pepperdine University. It was made possible because there are no rules prohibiting players from switching caddies in the middle of a round. Ted, however, returned for the final round, and Scheffler finished tied for eighth place at the PGA Championship.
Scott has made his wealth from his successful career as a caddie on the PGA Tour, working with several notable golfers, including Bubba Watson, Paul Azinger, Grant Waite, and, for the past three years, Scottie Scheffler. Caddies typically receive a yearly pay or retainer, five to seven percent of the player's tournament profits, and ten percent of the events that their player wins. On the basis of this, and as per Golf Monthly, Scott has earned $5.33 million in the 2024 season.
