Nacho Elvira is a Spanish golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. He is making the headlines for his exemplary performance at the ongoing Soudal Open 2024. He maintained his lead following the third round of the event and is in contention to win his second DP World Tour event.

Born on 17 February 1987, Nacho Elvira has been successful at amateur level. He went to Texas A&M University, where he played collegiate golf and even won the All-American title.

Elvira had a successful outing as an amateur while studying at the University, and then he started his professional journey with Challenge Tour in 2012. He played on the circuit for two years before earning his European Tour card.

He won his maiden professional event at the 2013 Foshan Open after playing four rounds of 68,68,66, and 72 to register a one-stroke victory over Tyrrell Hatton, Shiv Kumar, and Sam Walker. He finished 14th on the Order of Merit, which earned him the European Tour card for the upcoming season. However, he struggled with his game in his debut year and lost the card by finishing 121st position in the standings.

Following his unsuccessful journey on the European Tour, Nicho Elvira returned to compete on the Challenge Tour and went on to win three more events. This includes his incredible victory against Ricardo Gouvela and Rualdhri McGee at the Challenge de Madrid 2015. That year, he also won the Kartern Golf Open and Rolex Trophy and returned to the European Tour. He won his maiden event on the circuit in 2021 at the Cazoo Open.

Elvira defeated Justin Harding in a playoff of the tournament. He played four rounds of 64, 67, 66, and 71 and tied for first place with Harding. They both competed in a playoff before Elvira finally took home the trophy. He is seeking another win on the European Tour at this week's Soudal Open.

Following Saturday's round, Elvira opened up about his game while talking to the media and said (via PortNews.com):

"I was leading by six then, I'm leading by four (today). I could have taken three or four more just to be relaxed but this game is funny sometimes."
"I cannot hit it as good as I want and be leading by four, it's just a weird game. I learned a lot about being patient that day so hopefully I can take that into tomorrow."

At the time of writing, Elvira started with the final round of the Soudal Open and has a lead in the game. He made two birdies and two bogeys to settle for a score for an even par. He has yet to play six holes to complete the game.
