Nico Echavarria is a well-known Colombian professional golfer. He is well-known on a global scale. In March 2023, he won his first title on the PGA Tour at the Puerto Rico Open, which was a turning moment in his life. He hails from the Colombian city of Medellin and is 28 years old.
Nico was a member of the men's golf team at the University of Arkansas. During his stint there, he was named in two All-American teams and the 2017 All-SEC First Team. After his junior year of high school in Arkansas, he chose to work before returning for his senior year.

Nico worked hard to get on the PGA Tour for the 2022 season, even though the 2021 season was canceled because of the COVID-19 virus. It was a fantastic start to his PGA Tour career, tied for 12th place in the Sanderson Farms Championship. His win at the Puerto Rico Open made it clear that he is one of the best golfers in the world.
Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica
Nico Echavarria participated in this year's Korn Ferry Tour. He made the cut in 13 of the 24 tournaments and was placed in the top 25 on four occasions. At the end of the season, he was ranked 96th on the money list for the Korn Ferry Tour, just outside the top 75 players who qualified for the PGA Tour.
In 2020, Nico returned to the PGA Tour Latinoamerica and finished tied for 10th on the Order of Merit. If it weren't for the COVID-19 epidemic, for which he was only partially qualified, he would have started working for the Korn Ferry Tour in 2021.

Echavarria's PGA Tour Debut
In 2022, Echavarria participated for the first time on the PGA Tour. He obtained his position by winning the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. In his first PGA Tour event, the Sanderson Farms Classic, he tied for 12th.
The 28-year-old former PGA TOUR Latinoamérica pro held a two-stroke lead after 54 holes. He won the event with a 4-under-par 68. His final tournament score of 21 under par tied the tournament record.
“I’m happy with life right now,” Echavarría said. “After missing four cuts in a row, only making two cuts, just doubt yourself. I’m very grateful I just kept pushing and got it done.”
The Medellin native is the third Colombian golfer to win on the PGA Tour. Before him, Sebastián Muoz and Camilo Villegas had made their marks on the biggest stage. He became the 10th winner in the history of the PGA Tour of Latin America.
He also said, “I was able to keep it together in a stressful moment,” Echavarría said. “I'm grateful he mentored me in that way.”

Puerto Rico Open Victory
Nico Echavarria, a golfer from Colombia, won the Puerto Rico Open in March 2023. This was a big step forward in his career. He defeated Patrick Rodgers by one stroke since he shot 17 under par. Echavarria not only won the tournament but also received a two-year exemption from the PGA Tour and an invitation to the Masters in 2023.
