Nick Dunlap won the 2024 American Express, which was held at the PGA WEST Private Clubhouse & Golf Courses. Dunlap won the tournament as an amateur golfer and as a result, he didn't take home the winner's share of $1.5 million from the $8.4 million prize purse.

The second place holder of the 2024 American Express, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, took home that money with a total score of 28-under. Dunlap, meanwhile, turned professional on January 25 after winning the PGA Tour event.

At the American Express, Dunlap finished with a score of 29-under 259. In the first round, he shot 64 with two birdies along with one eagle on the front nine and three birdies along with an eagle on the back nine. In the second round, he fired 65 with six birdies on the front nine and one birdie on the back nine.

In the third and fourth rounds, he shot 60 and 70 with ten birdies along with an eagle and four birdies, respectively. He won the event by scoring one shot ahead of Bezuidenhout in total. After winning the tournament, he said:

“Honestly, I felt the script today was already written…I was going to go give it everything I had. Whether that's I shoot 75 or 65 or 70, I just was going to give it everything I had. (via Reuters)

He added about his Sunday performance and said:

“I told (caddie Hunter Hamrick) that we hadn't faced much adversity yet, and hitting my ball in the water on 7, it tested everything I had…I missed a couple putts that I thought I was going to make. ... I went over a scenario for today probably a million times and it's never going to go how you plan, and it didn't. I'm so happy to be standing here.”

Jon Rahm won the American Express in 2023 with 27-under in total.

Nick Dunlap won the American Express with 29-under and Bezuidenhout settled for second place with 28-under. Xander Schauffele tied for third with 27-under along with two others. Sam Burns finished in sixth place with 25-under along with Michael Kim and Adam Hadwin. Keith Mitchell occupied the ninth place with 24-under along with Ben Griffin.
