Scottie Scheffler praised the police for their treatment

Scottie Scheffler was arrested ahead of Round 2 at the 2024 PGA Championship on the charges of second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from a police officer. However, he was released shortly after and was able to make it in time for the PGA Championship.

After his release, the 2024 Masters champion went on to put on a brilliant performance. After Round 2, Scheffler attended the post-conference, where he had plenty of praise for the police officers who dealt with his arrest. He said that conversations with them managed to calm him down.

Scottie Scheffler said:

"The officer that took me to the jail was very kind. He was great. We had a nice chat in the car, that kind of helped calm me down... He came out and we had a nice chat and then the officers inside the jail were tremendous," Scheffler said [at 3:45 - 3:50, 4:09 - 4:13].

"I mean, they were really kind. I'm grateful that we have such strong police, and they're our protectors out there, and like I said, we just got into a chaotic situation this morning," he added [4:38 - 4:51].

While he exclaimed that he never imagined going to jail, Scottie Scheffler said that the police officials were tremendous and expressed his gratitude for all the people serving his nation.
