TPC Louisiana, located in Avondale, a suburb southwest of New Orleans, now hosts the PGA Tour professional golf event known as the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. It was performed in 1938, 86 years ago, and has been held yearly since 1958. It usually happens in the first or second part of spring. The Fore! Kids Foundation organized the event, with Zurich Insurance Group as the primary sponsor.
In 2017, the Zurich Classic became a team competition with eighty partners. The Tour priority rankings are used to choose the opening player for each team, and that player's partner needs to be either a PGA Tour member or eligible for admission by sponsor exemption. In the stroke play format, participants played better ball (fourball) in the second and fourth rounds, and alternate shots (foursome) in the first and third.
There are 33 teams on the cut line plus ties. The winners do not earn world ranking points for the competition or invitations to the Masters, in addition to receiving 400 FedEx Cup points and two-year exemptions. The format was modified in 2018 to have four balls for the first and third rounds and alternate shots for the second and fourth.
