Although the game offers you plenty of opportunities to make money, there are several activities to avoid in GTA Online, even if you aren't a beginner. Meanwhile, certain cash-generating methods, although worthwhile, will make the game feel monotonous. Other activities, like griefing, are considered unethical and frowned upon by almost every player.

With that in mind, here is a list of activities to avoid in GTA Online in 2024.

5 types of activities to avoid in GTA Online

1) Contact Missions

Contact Missions are among those activities to avoid in GTA Online. Although these can be helpful for beginners, they should only be used as a stepping stone. This doesn't mean you should avoid all Contact Missions, however, as they can sometimes offer bonuses with the occasional GTA Online weekly update.

Once you earn enough money from your businesses, you should move on to setting up heists. Rockstar has added several different ways for beginners to make money without needing to invest too much time or cash. The Cayo Perico Heist is a great money-maker. Moreover, properties like the Auto Shop, the Salvage Yard, and even the Agency are also good options once you can afford them.

2) Griefing

Not griefing others is one of the core unwritten rules in GTA Online that everyone abides by. Griefing is something that nearly all players have dealt with at some point; it's something no sensible person will want to inflict on others. Not only will you be met with hostility from everyone in a public lobby the moment you start disrupting people's gameplay, you might also end up in a bad-sport lobby if you keep doing it.

It will also land you in trouble with Rockstar, who has taken a stricter anti-griefing stance in Grand Theft Auto Online recently. The company has updated its community guidelines regarding fair play in GTA Online. This means you can even get banned from the game for griefing. This is why it is one of those activities to avoid in GTA Online.

3) Super Yacht missions

The Super Yacht is a ridiculously expensive purchase, so you should definitely avoid buying it unless you have plenty of spare money to waste. While there are lots of expensive vehicles in GTA Online that can burn a hole in your pocket, this one costs more than most of them. You get access to a mission series after buying one of these mobile properties called A Superyacht Life.

These aren't necessarily bad, but you shouldn't be buying a Yacht expecting these missions to pay back your money. The Super Yacht missions are acceptable, but they're not very rewarding. If your main goal is to get rich, they are among the activities to avoid in GTA Online.

4) Grinding too much

Grinding is the most popular method of making money in GTA Online, but overdoing it defeats the purpose of the game. For instance, doing the Cayo Perico heist over and over again is a common method that many players stick to. You can eventually get bored of it and feel as if the game is a chore, which is why grinding too much is among the activities to avoid in GTA Online.

Thankfully, Rockstar has added countless ways to spend time in Grand Theft Auto Online without boring yourself to death. The best advice is to make use of multiple different properties to keep things interesting.

The aforementioned Salvage Yard offers some fun missions, and the new GTA Online Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid heist is also an enjoyable option that beginners can try, as it doesn't require any properties to start.

5) Promote Club

Once you start managing a Nightclub, you'll notice that the game has a popularity meter that decides how much passive income you make from this property. You'll earn up to $50,000 every in-game day (48 hours) as long as the popularity bar remains full. However, when it drops down, don't do the tedious Promote Club missions, as these are one of those activities to avoid in GTA Online.

Instead, book a new Resident DJ, which will cost $100,000 but fill your popularity bar. If you've already booked all four DJs before, just spend $10,000 to rebook another DJ, and this will fill your popularity by 10%. Additionally, do the side missions that generate inside your club, like kicking out a troublemaker or delivering a passed-out VIP to their home.
