Liam O'Brien is a Canadian ice hockey professional, playing for the Utah Hockey Club in the National Hockey League (NHL), as of January 2025. He was drafted 10th overall by the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL during the 2010 QMJHL Draft. During his time in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, he also played for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies before O'Brien decided to pursue his career in the National Hockey League.

O'Brien was picked by the Washington Capitals from rookie camp in 2014. He made his NHL debut on October 9, 2014, and played his first game against the Montreal Canadiens. He left the Washington Capitals as a free agent and signed a contract with the Colorado Avalanche's AHL affiliate team, Colorado Eagles, on November 27, 2020.
