IndyCar is the top American open-wheel car racing series in motorsports. The IndyCar championship follows a chassis and racing format as other open-wheel racing and Formula 1. It follows a multiple race schedule spanning across different tracks in America. IndyCar vehicles are able to reach high top speeds compared to other series, due to the oval tracks and cars designed especially for raw conditions.
IndyCar racing vehicles are manufactured by Dallara and all teams are required to use a common chassis. The engines in IndyCar are provided by Honda or Chevrolet. The twin-turbocharged V6 engines are the heart behind the 700 hp beasts which race on IndyCar tracks. Scott Dixon, Alex Palou, Pat O Ward are some of the most popular drivers in IndyCar's history, as of December 2024. Alex Palou is the most recent IndyCar champion who claimed the 2024 IndyCar championship title.
