McLaren sued him for over $30 million for breach of contract. Despite difficulties, Palau stuck with Chip Ganassi Racing to claim the 2024 title. He has become the first IndyCar driver after Dario Franchitti to win back-to-back titles.

Alex Palou's Early Life & Career
Alex Palou was born in Sant Antoni de Vilamajor in Barcelona, Spain. Palou started his racing career in karting in 2003. He claimed a lot of early success in karting as his career progressed. Palou claimed many titles in the Junior series until 2012. He claimed his first big championship title in 2012 by winning the WSK Euro Series. Palou continued karting until 2014, winning the Spanish Karting Championship in the KF2 category in 2013.
Alex Palou started in open-wheel racing by finishing third in his debut season in the Euroformula Open Championship with Campos Racing in 2014. Palou won three races throughout the season, including the first and final race of the season. He competed in various junior Formula series until 2019, including the GP3 series, the Formula 2 series, and the Formula 3 series. Palou moved to Japan in 2017 and 2019 to compete in the Formula 3 Japan, Super Formula, and the Super GT- GT300 series respectively. He finished third in the Super Formula series with 1 win throughout the season.
Alex Palou has been racing in IndyCar for 5 years since 2020. He has started 81 races in the series. Palou debuted in IndyCar with Dale Coyne Racing in 2020.
