Gulbadin Naib (Player of the Match, 80 runs off 47 balls): We were trying to build a partnership first up. We waited for our time and when loose balls came along, we pounced on them. After 14 overs, things got easier for us. We cashed in on that and I made sure that I can score heavy runs. I can bat in every position, so whatever the team requires of me, I'll do accordingly.
Sikandar Raza (Dubai Capitals captain): A lot happened in that one ball, I injured myself and dropped the catch! Let's see what the scan report says tomorrow. The momentum shifted when we turned things around in the last 4 or 5 overs of our bowling innings. We then carried it forward in our batting innings. Shai Hope batted brilliantly again, Gulbadin Naib was just superb and Dasun Shanaka plundered some key runs towards the end. We have areas of improvement of course, but if a bowler like Dushmantha Chameera bowls so well at the back end and still stays unhappy, we are in really good hands!
Sunil Narine (Abu Dhabi Knight Riders captain): I think we have been bowling great, just needed our batting to come good. And thankfully, it did! But of course, our bowling failed to come up trumps. When that happens against a good batting line-up on a good pitch, you don't really win too many games. Charith Asalanka played well, we could have done well towards the end of our batting innings too. But, we will try and improve on most counts in the next game.
5:49 pm local time (7:19 pm IST): It's time for the post-match presentation!
5:41 pm local time (7:11 pm IST): Dubai Capitals win by 8 wickets with 1 ball to spare!
What a fantastic run chase it was! Shai Hope batting right till the end and sealing the deal and other batters contributing in the best way possible to reach what looked liked a tough target! But the impetus given to the innings by Gulbadin Naib's 47-ball 80 was the difference between the sides, clearly!
Abu Dhabi Knight Riders failed to execute their plans, and looked a little out of place in the field. Sunil Narine's captaincy too needed to be better at the crunch moments of the innings. The bowling seemed quite one-dimensional in the approach.
With this victory, Dubai Capitals move to second in the points table and give themselves a tremendous chance of making the final four. The Knight Riders, in presence of their owner Shahrukh Khan, suffered a heartbreaking loss at home to remain on 6 points.
19.5 Jason Holder to Shai Hope, PULLED AWAY FOR FOUR! DUBAI CAPITALS WIN THIS HIGH-SCORING MATCH! Dug in short on off-stump. Hope swiveled on the back foot and swung it away towards the vacant deep square-leg region for a boundary!
19.4 Jason Holder to Dasun Shanaka, SCORES ARE LEVEL! Full outside off-stump. A play and a miss yet again through the line. But the batters scamper through for a bye as Gous misses the stumps at the striker's end!
19.3 Jason Holder to Shai Hope, full outside off-stump. Squirted away to the deep backward point region from the open bat face for a single.
19.2 Jason Holder to Shai Hope, FOUR RUNS! Holder went wide outside off-stump but missed his yorker by a bit. Hope thumped it wide of long-off off the front foot for a boundary on one bounce!
19.1 Jason Holder to Shai Hope, full and wide yet again outside off. Another swing-and-a-miss through the line of the ball by Shai Hope! Dot ball. 7 needed off 5 balls!
