MATCH SUMMARY
CIYMS won by 12 runs
Allen Coulter 39(12) | Jacob Mulder 2/10(2) Taranjeet Singh 26(8) | Vasu Saini 2/16(2)
CIYMS have dragged the game back in their favor with the ball and have booked their place in the finals of Group G defeating a good-looking Cluj side.
The run-chase really had two different parts to it, the first one belonged to Cluj but the second one was completely dominated by CIYMS. Cluj got off to a rapid start racing to 40 inside the third over just before they lost their star-batter Taranjeet Singh.
At the end of the 5-over mark, Cluj had just lost their second wicket but looked well-placed on 65/2 to get past the finishing line. From here on, some exceptional bowling and some not-so clever batting saw Cluj losing wickets very frequently.
From 77/2 CIYMS bowlers managed to reduce Cluj to 97/6 and then eventually restricted to 114/9. Every batter that came in, for Cluj, seemed to lose the plot in the second half as they just lost their way in the run chase.
The bowling efforts of the CIYMS bowlers need to be duly appreciated, they very smart with their plans and in their execution as well. Jacob Mulder was exception with his leg-spin as he has been throughout the tournament picking up 2 wickets, but the likes of Allan Coulter and Mark Best who got 2 each bowled exceptionally too.
Earlier in the piece, a 76-run partnership between Allan Coulter (39* off 14) and Max Burton (35 off 15) helped CIYMS recover from 49/5 and make their way up to 126 which eventually proved to be enough. For Cluj, Vasu Saini and Dilum Fernando bowled well and picked 2 wickets each.
CIYMS will now head to the final whereas Cluj will be back on the field in just a while to take on Calpe Giants to determine the other finalist.
