It's all shaping up rather nicely as we head into the closing stages of the tournament with the points table still wide open for the last two playoff spots. It's a break day tomorrow in the WPL with the Indian men taking center stage for their ODI against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. We'll of course have all the coverage from that game as well. For now, this is Pratyush Rohra, signing off on behalf of my friend, Raghav Tikmany. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Buh-bye for now!
The Delhi Capitals had the chance to seal their playoff spot today but they've got to wait a little bit longer to get that 'Q' against their name on the points table. It's not quite an 'E' yet for the bottom three sides either, with Gujarat Giants now going level on points with the UP Warriorz. Amongst all this, RCB are still alive in this tournament too, by the barest of margins.
Ashleigh Gardner is the Player of the Match. Here's what she has to say: It's probably the game I've been searching for. I've been a bit inconsistent. To put my team in a winning position with the bat was great. We knew we had to bowl well and we did that. It's the first time we've bowled out a team, which is pretty pleasing. It was a clinical performance. We spoke about the fact that we were losing too many wickets in clusters. 20 overs is a long time, so you can afford to give yourself some time. You do catch up in these conditions with the wickets being good and the ground being so fast. (Bowing) As the tournament goes on, spin is playing a part. Now the wickets are being used, there is a bit of purchase. So, we can find our lengths and find the results.
Sneh Rana (Gujarat Giants captain): The smile is always there. We talked about how 150 is a par score depending on the conditions that were around. It was a big wicket (Lanning's). We enjoyed it. The game started brilliantly. The momentum was in our favor. We got two wickets in that over, which gave us momentum again. (Dunkley and Wolvaardt) Whoever contributes to the team, it's a good thing. I've already said that we need two good partnerships. We had that and the result is there. Everyone has been in a very positive mindset. Right from the warmups today till the end, we knew we had to do it. Everyone was brilliant on the field in all three departments. Well done to the girls.
Kim Grath: We have played well throughout the tournament but weren't lucky enough. Happy with this win, we have been working hard on staying calm. It can be challenging, to work with people from different nations. Tonight we showed that we can put up a fight and compete. The top order did well to monitor the conditions. The pitches are slowing down now. Early into the tournament, I was going at tens even if the bowling was good. Happy that it won't be the case anymore.
It was heartbreak for Arundhati Reddy but she can hold her head high. That was a fighting knock until the very end!
Damn, really wanted Arundhati Reddy to take her team home. Some stunning shots in that knock.#DCvGG#WPL2023
Meg Lanning (DC captain): I think they bowled really well and we gave away some wickets by playing poor shots. The bowlers did a fine job to keep them to an under-par score. I got out in a poor way, trying to play across on a surface where I should have played straight. The run outs were bad as well. We talked about Harleen's bowling, she put the ball in the right areas and got the better of us.
Gujarat Giants won by 11 runs!
Laura Wolvaardt - 57 (45) | Kim Garth - 2/18 Marizanne Kapp - 36 (29) | Jess Jonassen - 2/38
Jeez. What a game. What. A. Game. This one was ebbing and flowing right through the 38 overs and it's the Gujarat Giants who eventually get over the line. Look what it means to them. Contrasting emotions for the two sets of players, of course, and it's the Delhi Capitals who eventually fall short after fighting until the very end.
Chasing a total under 150, many fancied the Delhi Capitals to chase this down but it didn't go their way. Shafali and Lanning couldn't get off to the best of starts with Kim Garth and the Gujarat spinners doing well in the Powerplay. It was Capsey who looked well in charge to step up to the plate when required before she was run out in the same over when Lanning was dismissed, leaving the door ajar for the Giants.
Rodrigues fell soon after, which left Delhi in a spot of bother. It was once again down to Kapp and Jonassen to rescue their side from a tricky situation but they couldn't provide the fireworks tonight. Jonassen didn't have the best of outings, so it was down to Marizanne Kapp to steer this run chase as far as she could. Ashwani Kumari running her out seemed to be the death knell for Delhi in the run chase, but there was still life there.
After bowling just one over in the tournament before this game, Arundhati Reddy came through with the bat to give her side a glimmer of hope. Her fighting cameo alongside Shikha Pandey left some nerves jangling for the Giants, but they eventually held their nerve to emerge triumphant to keep themselves in the hunt for the playoff spot.
It was a cracking game of cricket at the CCI, let's hear what the captains have to say about it.
19.0
18.4 Ashleigh Gardner to Poonam Yadav, OUT! The Giants win by 11 runs! The fielders are thrilled. They know how important it was for them to win this game. It was full and quick, pitching outside off, Yadav wanted to drive it on the leg side, this one came off the inside edge and went straight to Hemalatha at midwicket
Poonam Yadav c Dayalan Hemalatha b Ashleigh Gardner 0 (3b, 0x4, 0x6)
Another dot. More pressure. 12 needed off 9 now.
18.3 Ashleigh Gardner to Poonam Yadav, on length and outside off, defended back to the bowler
18.2 Ashleigh Gardner to Poonam Yadav, length ball on off, turning in sharply, beat's Poonam's defence and strikes her thigh pad
All Poonam Yadav needs to do is get Pandey back on strike.
18.1 Ashleigh Gardner to Shikha Pandey, full and outside off, Pandey comes across and works it on the leg side for a single

Poonam Yadav, RHB, comes to the crease
Kim Garth comes in and delivers a crucial wicket off the final ball of her spell. That's a heartbreaking end to a wonderful little fighting innings from Reddy, which will give her a lot of confidence going forward in this tournament. Capitals are nine down.
