That's all we have from this match and from the T20I series as I, Lavil Saldanha, alongside my friend and colleague, Rajarshi Das, take your leave. Do check Sportskeeda for the latest in the world of sports. We wish you a great evening ahead, SEE YA!
Phil Salt (captain, England): When we get pushed back we come harder, we were really good with the way we fought in Cardiff. The brand of cricket we play is really good. We want to win more series, the more time we spend we improve. First time I have been forced to look at the game differently and enjoyed the responsibility.
Mitchell Marsh (Captain, Australia): It would have been nice to finish with a deciding match but onto the ODI series now. He is an exciting talent, we started in Scotland as a T20 group and gave the young guys roles across the 5 games. We have a few guys that come back in at some stage but it is always a pleasure to see a young group play in England.
Liam Livingstone is the player of the series: Just been a bit involved, a good run with bat and ball. With a few guys missing out, I have played well and enjoyed my cricket. I want to be involved in the game and play for England as long as I can bat a bit up the order is a good place to bat for me
Jos Buttler wins the T20 Player of the Summer for his contributions for England during the T20I series against Pakistan and in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024
4:25 PM Local Time, 8:55 PM IST: The inevitable has happened, the match has been called off due to rain. Such a shame that a series decider ends in a damn squib and that concludes Mens T20Is in the English summer
4:10 P.M. Local Time, 8:40 P.M. IST: There was an inspection scheduled in about five minutes from now, but with all the rain around, that seems to be unlikely now. Just over an hour and a half remains to the cut-off time for a 5-over game...
3:50 P.M. Local Time, 8:20 P.M. IST: It has begun raining again. Just a drizzle, but the hover cover is back on the field.
Visuals show that the covers are coming off. There will be a pitch inspection in around half and hour from now
3:30 P.M. Local Time, 8:00 P.M. IST: The rain stopped a few moments ago, and the ground-staff have gotten in on the act. Pitch inspection in about 45 minutes, provided there's no further rain. We will begin losing overs from now...
Ranganna: "England need to have their own version of Mumbai's Kanga League", that's one thing that sure will equip them better for the Ashes Down Under. Variable bounce, the ball climbing onto the body off a good length... been a while since England won the Ashes.
Liam Livingstone makes a comeback into the ODI squad for the series against Australia, but his hiatus has caused him to consider other options as well. Click on the article to read more
3:15 P.M. Local Time, 7:45 P.M. IST: The umpires made their way onto the field to have a look about five minutes ago. There seems to be a bit of drizzle, but the skies have brightened over the last few minutes.
3:05 P.M. Local Time, 7:35 P.M. IST: Apparently, the cut-off time for a five-over game is 5:46 P.M. (Local Time). Another half an hour before we start losing overs. The prospect of a decider looks grim...
In latest developments, Jos Buttler is yet to heal from the injury he sustained in The Hundred this year and ruled out of the ODI series against Australia. Click on the link below to see who all have made the cut for the upcoming ODI series
Arvind: "I remember the ICC Super Series between Australia and World XI being played under a roof at Melbourne", Michael Hussey hit the roof once in that series as well!
2:50 P.M. Local Time, 7:20 P.M. IST: Still no official update from the venue. It's been drizzling steadily, and the outfield remains waterlogged. Not long before we start losing overs at this rate.
