: The boundary dimensions are 61 to 68 metre to the side of the straight boundary while 69 metre straight. This looks an absolute belter. It's a black soil surface. It's rolled very well. The cracks are not too wide and there shouldn't be too much help for the spinners but the seamers might get some help with the new ball. There will be some carry and extra bounce. Richa Ghosh (Player of the Match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru): My plan was to take time and take the game deep, see how the pitch plays out and play my natural game. (Batting with Kanika) We thought we could chase this down and we will play a positive game. Our preparations helped and the match simulations with various situations also helped us. One side was shorter but I didn't think about it and played the ball on its merit (Translated from Hindi)

Smriti Mandhana (captain, Royal Challengers Bengaluru): I am really happy we are on the winning side. The way Richa and Pez (Perry) batted was great to watch. They have been brilliant to watch, have been doing this to our bowlers in the nets for the last couple of days. We knew dew would settle in and we were always in the game. We lost the top three wicket-takers of the season, but the replacements did a fine job. (On Ashleigh Gardner) Time to take her on a run (laughs)

Kanika Ahuja: I am feeling great. Playing after a year so it's a special feeling. The realisation and what I did in rehab helped me improve as a better player. I felt that whatever I get in my reach, I will go after that. A great feeling to win the match. I didn't visualise to get a wicket in my first over (chuckles). I was just enjoying my wicket. We felt if we could take the game, we could chase it down. Exceptional batting from Perry and Richa.

Ashleigh Gardner is the Gujarat Giants captain, here is what she had to say: Yeah it's pretty flattering to be honest. We knew 200 was just a par score. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be and the dropped chances hurt us in the end. There will always be positives from this game. Beth Mooney set the tone and then Deandra Dottin did what she does best. Richa capitalised on the chances, rode her luck and batted beautifully. It was very difficult to be honest. We know it gets dewey playing at night in India. Certainly not gonna use that as an excuse. Yeah it's okay to take the emotions out of this game. We were in a really good position but some real positives to take from this game. Keep attacking with both bat and ball in the coming games and hopefully the result will take care of itself.

The highest chase in the history of WPL. Defending their title, RCB have started off on a strong note. They lost a couple of players at the start of the season, but they have put that behind them and started off on a positive note. As for Gujarat Giants, there will be a lot of reflection on what has happened.

RCB started it right, getting 13 runs off the first overs but then back-to-back wickets of Smriti Mandhana and Danni Wyatt Hodge seems to have derailed the momentum for the defending champions. Ellyse Perry and Raghavi Bist then managed to gain control of the chase, with the former scoring a half-century. Wickets tumbled at a quick pace again but towards the end, Richa Ghosh and Kanika Ahuja managed to firmly grasp the game and never let it go.

As for the Giants, they will be disappointed with the nature of their defeat. Their bowlers gave away a bit too much while their fielding was all over the play, dropping catches and giving away runs as Valentine's presents. Ashleigh Gardner, after starring with the bat in hand, did a fine job with the ball but then was expensive in the next over she bowled. Deandra Dottin and Sayali Satghare picked up a wicket each but failed to contain the batters and conceded one too many.

18.3 Deandra Dottin to Richa Ghosh, SIX! Richa Ghosh finishes it off in style. The highest successful run chase in the history of WPL. Short of a length delivery from Dottin, Richa gets into position very early and nails the pull shot from her presence, sends that many a mile over the midwicket fence. RCB win by 6 wickets with 9 deliveries to spare.
