The Gujarat Titans are at the top of the table now in IPL 2025 and they've pushed the Delhi Capitals to number 2 courtesy this emphatic win here in their bastion, the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Shubman Gill led side really look a well oiled unit and like he mentioned at the toss, the players are sticking to the clearly pre-defined roles. For the Delhi Capitals, the loss will be a wake up call as they were around 15-20 runs short with the bat and none of the batters went on to play an innings like Jos Buttler. They will need to learn from their mistakes and come back stronger in the next game.
Kodangal Komalu R: "Absolutely thrilled to have witnessed this game live. Jos Buttler played an incredible innings and proved his weight worth in gold. I think the Gujarat Titans look unbeatable at the moment and might just go all the way this season."
Jos Buttler (Gujarat Titans- " Really pleased with the two points. It was a beautiful wicket to bat on. I'm glad that I managed to take things deep. The weather was really tough to deal with and I was cramping up at one point of time. The weather here takes a lot of fluid out of your body. I haven't been able to keep to my best so I was determined to improve. It's always good to hang on to a catch like that. I have batted with Sherfane a few times and he has the ability to change the games. His two sixes against Mohit Sharma were very important. I think winning the game was more important. I told Rahul to not worry about my score. He has finished plenty of games for us from tough situations. "
Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans Captain)- " The way we came back in the game was great. At one point, it looked like that they will get to around 220-230 but the bowlers pulled it back well. We have been chasing well so far and it's coming off well for us. They were ahead in the game and with Axar in the middle we decided to not give a go to Sai Kishore. It was disappointing to get run out but hopefully I will get my chance. It was magnificent the way Buttler and Sherfane rotated the strike and mixed caution with aggression. They picked the bowlers well. It's very pleasing to be at the top of the points table. "

ORANGE CAP LIST
Sai Sudharsan (GT)- 365 runs Nicholas Pooran (LSG)- 358 runs Jos Buttler (GT)- 315 runs Mitchell Marsh (LSG)- 299 runs KL Rahul (DC) - 266 runs
Sai Sudharshan wears the Orange Cap and says, "The wicket was fantastic to bat on in the second innings. With the new ball, in the first 6 overs, it was skidding on and coming onto the bat really nicely. I think the way the bowlers are bowling, if it is a good ball, you try to time the ball and not muscle it. That is what I have been practicing. When I am in preparation, I try to react. It was fantastic to watch Buttler. The way he finished the game there. I am learning a lot from him."
Axar Patel (Delhi Capitals captain): "I think we were 10-15 runs short. That made the difference. When we wanted to accelerate, we lost wickets. Set batters got out. We could not get enough runs in the last over. One or two more hits could have made the difference. We don't need to think too hard about this one. The odd catch, the odd couple of good balls, one or two more big hits and the result could have been different. But we will try and learn from our mistakes."
Gujarat Titans 204/3 in 19.2 overs Jos Buttler 97*(54) | Kuldeep Yadav 1/30 Sherfane Rutherford 43(34) | Mukesh Kumar 1/40
MY WORD! This tournament keeps throwing up these incredible games of cricket. The Gujarat Titans were cruising in the run chase for the greater part of it and then just in the end we had some drama. Rahul Tewatia had other ideas though. He came in and finished the game off in just a couple of blows. It was an unbelievable finish given that he did it against Mitchell Starc and his hostile left arm seam. The Titans will be thrilled with this win as it confirms their position at the top of the table.
The Gujarat Titans got off to a disastrous start as Shubman Gill was run out early in the piece courtesy a misunderstanding. It brought Jos Buttler to the middle and he took his early on while Sai Sudharsan kept smashing the boundaries through his impeccable timing. Buttler joined the party as he took down Nigam in one over. The Titans piled up more than 60 in the powerplay to set up the run chase.
Kuldeep Yadav picked up a wicket and he sent back Sai Sudharsan. Sherfane Rutherford came into the middle and he got off to a slow start as Kuldeep and Vipraj Nigam kept things tidy. However it was the over from Mohit Sharma where the Titans teed off and started to find the boundaries. Rutherford got going and Buttler smashed his way through to a 50.
The carnage continued from the blade of Buttler as he smashed five boundaries in one over of Mitchell Starc. It set the tone for the game and from there on, the Capitals bowlers failed to break the partnership. Mukesh Kumar bowled an outstanding 19th over but it was a bit too late by then as the Titans needed 10 runs to win from the final over. Jos Buttler remained unbeaten on 97 in the end. Although he missed his 100, the knock was as good as any in the tournament.
EASY AS YOU LIKE! ICE-MAN TEWATIA FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE FOR THE GUJARAT TITANS. THEY WIN BY 7 WICKETS!
19.2 Mitchell Starc to Rahul Tewatia, STREAKY FOUR! BUT THE TITANS WILL TAKE IT! Tewatia and Buttler run to each other and hug at the middle of the pitch. The crowd erupts. Starc went for the yorker, the ball tailed in towards the leg peg too. Tewatia instinctively moved his front leg out of the way and plunged the bat down. The inside edge was good enough to take it to the fine leg boundary.
WELL WELL WELL! Rahul Tewatia gets one in the slot and he hammers it away into the crowd. Surely that's the game for the Gujarat Titans. They need just 4 runs from five balls now.
19.1 Mitchell Starc to Rahul Tewatia, runs in over the wicket, with mid-off up in the ring. TONKED OVER COW'S CORNER! SIX! Tewatia must have nerves of steel. Slot ball outside off from Starc. The batter planted his front foot across and heaved it over the boundary for a maximum. 4 to win off 5 balls.
What an incredible penultimate over from Mukesh Kumar. He has been terrific with his execution and gave away just five runs from that one. 10 runs needed from 6 balls for the Gujarat Titans. It's all down to Jos Buttler now. Can Starc pull off another thrilling win for the DC?
