That sums up our coverage of the final of the Asian Games Men's Cricket Competition. For now, it's Soumarya Dutta, taking your leave on behalf of Mohul Bhowmick. See you soon!
It's time for India's national anthem to be played here! The Indian flag is flying high and it's a really proud moment for Indian Cricket.
It's time for the Gold Medallists India to be felicitated now. It's a young Indian team led by a young captain who have scripted history here at the 19th Asian Games. India have won the Gold medal in both Men's and Women's competition in the series now and it's an unbelievable feat.
It's time for the Silver Medallists Afghanistan to be felicitated now. They've had an incredible run in the competition and it's unfortunate for them that they're on the wrong side of the results in the final. However Gulbadin Naib and his boys have made their country proud. It's their fifth medal overall in this year's Asian Games and their first Silver Medal.
The Bronze Medallists Bangladesh will be felicitated now! It's an incredibly proud moment for the country as they've ended their medal drought in the competition. It's their second medal in this year's Asian Games, and both have been Bronze.
All the three teams are on the podium now and the officials and dignitaries are making their way out to the middle.
It's time for the Medal Ceremony for Asian Games Men's Cricket Competition 2023!
Bangladesh are the Bronze medallists, while Afghanistan have won the Silver. It will be the Men in Blue who will be at the top of the podium and take centre stage for the Gold Medal.
Right, it's a real shame that the game has been abandoned due to rain and that India will clinch their 26th Gold Medal in this year's Asian Games courtesy a washout. However, it's an incredible achievement for Indian Cricket given the fact that both the Men's and Women's teams have achieved the GOLD MEDAL in this competition. It's a testament to the brilliant depth of Indian Cricket and how the next generation of both Men's and Women's cricket is in safe hands.
MATCH ABANDONED! INDIA WIN THIS GAME DUE TO THEIR BETTER RANKING!
Afghanistan scored 112-5 in 18.2 overs Shahidullah Kamal 49*(43) | Ravi Bishnoi 1/12 Gulbadin Naib 27*(24) | Arshdeep Singh 1/17
Right so, Afghanistan won't eventually get to bat the full twenty overs but it has been a good recovery from them considering where they were at the half way stage of the innings. They were reeling at 52/5 at one juncture and it looked like that the Indian spinners would wrap things up really fast but that wasn't the case in the end.
Being put into bat, the Afghanistan openers struggled to score runs early on and both the opening batters departed cheaply. Shahzad can consider himself to be unlucky though as he got done in by a harsh caught behind call. From there onwards it was a real struggle for the Afghans. Shahidullah Kamal held one end up but the other batters kept playing the loose shots and threw their wickets away.
It was once again down to Afghanistan's skipper Gulbadin Naib to do the rescue job and he came in to rebuild the innings with Kamal. The duo picked up ones and twos early on and then started to attack anything that was pitched into their arc. They went after Shahbaz Ahmed and Washington Sundar and managed to up the ante. Kamal played an incredible knock under pressure and eventually was stranded on 49 before the rain intervened. He took on the Indian spinners and kept the scoreboard moving when Afghanistan were struggling with the loss of wickets.
The Indian bowlers had been economical for the greater part of the innings but they just lost their lines a bit towards the end. Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers as he hardly gave anything away. The rest of the spinners did a decent job although Shahbaz Ahmed did go for a few as Kamal peppered the mid wicket boundary against him. Arshdeep Singh was superb in the powerplay though , as was Shivam Dube who sneaked in a tidy over. Both the seamers picked up a wicket each early on.
Update 14:32 IST, 17:02 local time: Unfortunately, this game has been called off! India win the GOLD MEDAL owing to them being better placed in the ICC T20I rankings. This is a historic win for India! They can be very proud of their achievements in the Asian Games 2023. This is another GOLD medal added to their tally.
Update 14:26 IST, 16:50 local time - The latest update from the venue is that the game has to start in an hour if we're to get in a five over contest. Incase the game is abandoned due to rain, India, being the higher ranked side in the ICC T20I rankings, will win the Gold medal.
Update 13:52 IST, 16:25 Local time - There's still no signs of the rain receding and the covers are in place. We're hoping to get some action soon though. Stay tuned for further updates.
The umpires have decided to call for the covers finally and this isn't really good news for the Afghanistan fans. They had just started to accelerate and put pressure on the Indian bowlers. We can only hope that this is a passing shower and that the play resumes quickly.
18.2 Shahbaz Ahmed to Gulbadin Naib, floated at a length on off and middle, turns away. Naib sweeps it towards deep midwicket. Single taken.
18.1 Shahbaz Ahmed to Shahidullah Kamal, back of a length on middle and leg. Kamal tucks it away to square leg for a single.
18.1 Shahbaz Ahmed to Shahidullah Kamal, WIDE outside off! Kamal lets it go.
50 for Shahidullah Kamal! He has held this innings together and has upped the ante at crucial stages for his side. This has been top class knock form the left hander considering the stage and occasion.
Shahbaz Ahmed [3.0-0-25-1] comes back into the attack.
Massive blow from Gulbadin Naib there to end the eighteenth over and Arshdeep Singh paid the price for missing out on the block hole. Afghanistan will believe that they're in with a chance to get past 130 here.
