Cricket is a great leveler, they say, and the Indian girls have got a taste of exactly that tonight. The series is now squared up at 1-1 with the final match to be played at the same venue in a couple of day's time. All set up for a mouth-watering decider! For now, this is Sourabh taking your leave on behalf of Pradeep. Good night and good bye!
Hayley Matthews (Player of the Match & Winning captain): We knew that we did not do as well as we wanted to in the last game. We went back, had a look and the girls wanted to do much better. When we looked at the score in the middle, we felt we had it in control when Smriti was playing but we felt we can keep it in control in the last 5 overs. Kudos to players like Deandra. We felt that they got 10 runs extra but at the same time felt that it was pretty much chasable
Smriti Mandhana (India Women captain): T20 cricket is like that, you can have one really good game and the next time it can be like this. I think the conditions really changed after the first half, they batted really well but our execution could have been better. We will take it and work hard to come back in the next game. The first 7-8 overs, the same shots we hit in the first game were not coming off tonight and that is where we need to adjust as a batting unit. We will take that as a batting unit again, I got out at the wrong time. We had a good launchpad and Richa played a good innings. The dew was not there in the first 10 overs in the first innings, tomorrow is an off day, we will go back, practice hard and come back again.
Time for the post-match presentations!
Deandra Dottin speaking after the win: It feels really good. We always like to come from behind. We reflected on where we went wrong and just wanted to do the basics right. The girls did well and we have come back to square up the series. The determination (on being asked what changed). We don't like losing and were hungrier. Sometimes we get to the ball gets too quickly (on the dropped catches) but these things happen in cricket and we just need to focus more. It was how we played last game (on her opening the bowling), making use of the conditions. She (Qiana Joseph) is absolutely brilliant, we encourage her to keep going and keep hitting those big sixes
21:59 IST: West Indies Women thump India Women by 9 wickets and level the 3-match series 1-1
West Indies Women have cantered home and have made an absolute mockery of the 160-run target which was never going to be enough in the first place as they get the job done with 26 balls to spare.
If you say that this was a one-sided contest, even that would be an understatement such has been the statement put out by the visitors who have roared to square the series up.
160, as I mentioned earlier, was always going to be under par but the fact it to be proved way under par was a testimony to the fact that West Indies absolutely bossed proceedings. All of that started in the powerplay with Qiana Joseph and Hayley Matthews making full use of the field restrictions. Both the openers are like chalk and cheese in their approach and they complemented each other beautifully. While Qiana used her muscle and powered her way through the powerplay, Matthews used all her class to pepper the field as the duo blasted 65 in the powerplay to kill the game right there.
Qiana fell just after the powerplay but that is exactly when the Hayley Matthews show began as Campbelle joined her in the middle. From 26 off 18 at that time, the West Indies skipper finished at an unbeaten 85 off 47 and truly led from the front. She scored all around the field and hit 17 fours in her knock, sometimes an entire team does not manage that in an innings.
Campbelle did her job at the other end and played second fiddle to Matthews as the skipper dragged her team to victory thumping India in what was an absolute no-contest. There was heavy dew in the second innings and that made matters worse for the Indian bowlers who had no answers and were given a proper shellacking.
15.4 Sajeevan Sajana to Hayley Matthews, FOUR! WEST INDIES ROMP HOME TO A NINE WICKET WIN! What a come back and a half this from West Indies, they got thrashed in the first T20I, but this is some come back from them to square the series. Length delivery on the off-stump, Matthews went back and spanked it through covers, finishes the game in style.
15.3 Sajeevan Sajana to Hayley Matthews, length delivery on the fourth stump, Matthews goes back and pushes it to covers.
15.2 Sajeevan Sajana to Hayley Matthews, FOUR! SHOT! Wheels coming off for India here. Spears the length delivery down the leg-side, Matthews just helps it with a sweep to long-leg, races away to the ropes.
15.1 Sajeevan Sajana to Shemaine Campbelle, skips down the wicket for the length delivery, Campbelle has a hack at it but mistimed it to deep mid-wicket for one.
S Sajana [2.0-0-8-0] to bowl now
Only 9 runs needed for West Indies to level the series, just the final rites remain in this one. There is a shush across DY Patil

14.6 Deepti Sharma to Hayley Matthews, spears full on the stumps, Matthews gets forward and knocked it into the on-side. Deepti runs across, dives to stop it herself.
14.5 Deepti Sharma to Shemaine Campbelle, length delivery, spins into the pads. Campbelle presses and works it past backward square-leg for one.
14.4 Deepti Sharma to Shemaine Campbelle, uses her feet for the length delivery, Campbelle clipped it away but Rodrigues was alert at short mid-wicket, slides to her left and stops it.
14.3 Deepti Sharma to Hayley Matthews, good length, angled into leg-stump. Matthews presses and works it past mid-wicket for one.
14.2 Deepti Sharma to Hayley Matthews, slanted on a length on the pad. Matthews goes back and nudged it to fine-leg and scampers through for a couple.
That hit Mandhana on the fingers of her left hand as she dived at short mid-wicket. The fingers were already strapped and she is feeling some pain now, the physio is out to have a look. All set to resume after a moment of delay
14.1 Deepti Sharma to Shemaine Campbelle, down the wicket for the length delivery, Campbelle has a hack but mistimed it down to long-on for one. That was slightly uppish, Mandhana at short mid-wicket, dives to her left but goes out of reach and might've hurt her fingers in the process.
