It's time to draw the curtains on our coverage of this exhilarating IPL contest between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants! The razzmatazz continues though as the Mumbai Indians take on the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium so don't forget to tune into our live coverage of that game! For now, it's Soumarya Dutta, signing off on behalf of Rudransh. See you soon!
KKR have cruised home to a comfortable 8 wicket win here and the Knights are placed comfortably at the second spot in the points table. The Lucknow Super Giants on the other hand have hit a bit of a roadblock here as they've lost three consecutive games on the trot! They will need to buckle up and get their act together to set their campaign back on track.
Phil Salt, Player of the Match - I just saw the ball and kept going! Shreyas was great in the middle and it made my task easier. It feel like before the lights came on, the pitch was slightly slow. When the lights came on, it became easier for us. The conditions seem similar to those at home and I enjoy playing here at Eden Gardens. I love it here at KKR. Shreyas and GG have given me a lot of confidence.
Shreyas Iyer, Kolkata Knight Riders Captain - It was a comprehensive victory. We fielded and bowled well and then coming back to finish it the way we did, it was the icing on the cake. It was important to bowl the slower ones and with the heat it was important to keep our lines right. When we got wickets in between, it really gave us the advantage to take control of the game. It's an advantage to play home games but it's a funny tournament and at any point, you can't take the situation lightly! We just have to keep the momentum and continue with the way we're playing.
The post match presentation is coming up shortly!
Sunil Narine: We started well in the powerplay. The first thing is to do is to keep it as tight as possible. Once you are in control of the game, it's easier to bowl. We have been doing well. 2 in 2 is good. Everyone is fully fit. We are enjoying it and that's the main thing. Shamar was a bit unlucky. It was his firs game, it's a learning process. He'll come back strong. Salty looked brilliant today. He has always looked in great touch. (On the T20 World Cup) I'll be watching from home, Badree!
KL Rahul, LSG captain: One of those days. It was a proper hammering. Sometimes games like these are hard to digest. But all teams go through such games in the IPL. We are disappointed. No, the ball started nipping around a lot more in the second innings (on if pitch got easier). It was easier to bat on in the first innings. I can't say we played bad shots. Our execution was off. We were 30 runs short. If one of the top three or four had batted all the way, we could have make it count. Then we leaked a lot of extra boundaries. Shamar's pace was a positive. First game in the IPL you can get excited. He was very excited and wanted to bowl quick so sprayed it around a bit. He needs to work on his consistency. No panic but you can't put your feet up. We'll see how we can get better and have difficult conversations. Last two games, we haven't been able to get much over 160. It's on us to see how to get those 180+ totals.
Kolkata Knight Riders 162/2 in 15.2 overs Phil Salt 89*(47) | Mohsin Khan 2/29 Shreyas Iyer 38*(38)
It's perhaps the best ever gift that Kolkata Knight Riders could give to the city of joy on the occasion of "Nobo Borsho" (The Bengali New Year) and they've triumphed by 8 wickets against the powerful Lucknow Super Giants. This has been an emphatic victory for the men in purple and they have managed to get over the LSG hoodoo! Lucknow just couldn't match up to the standards and were clueless in front of Phil Salt and his incredible hitting prowess. The talismanic English right hander finished off unbeaten on 89 and it was a stupendous knock from him that helped the Knight Riders to romp home easily in the end.
The powerplay began with a dream start for KKR as Shamar Joseph had a nightmare of a beginning on his debut giving away 22 runs from the first over. Mohsin Khan took things into his own hands from there onwards as he jolted the hosts with a couple of wickets. Phil Salt continued the assault though and he smashed Krunal Pandya and Yash Thakur for as many as five boundaries cumulatively. The powerplay ended up yielding 58 for KKR.
Shreyas Iyer took his time in the middle but once he got himself in, he started playing his strokes. Salt went berserk though as he smashed Joseph and Arshad all over the park and brought up his 50 in just 26 balls. Kolkata had the game within their grasp at the halfway stage of the innings as Lucknow continued to hunt for the breakthrough.
KL Rahul failed to get the bowling changes on point and he brought Ravi Bishnoi into the attack far too late. It helped the two set batters, Salt and Iyer to consolidate which proved costly for LSG! They will be also ruing those two dropped chances against Salt which could have been a turning point in the game. Yash Thakur and Arshad Khan, the two young quick bowlers were also taken to the sword and they will try to learn their lessons from this game.
Kolkata Knight Riders win by 8 wickets and 26 balls to spare! They rake up their first ever win against the Super Giants in the IPL!
15.4 Ravi Bishnoi to Phil Salt, FOUR! KKR WIN IT IN 16 OVERS! Short and down the leg, proper drag down. Salt waits for it all the way and pulls it to deep square leg with disdain! A massive victory for the hosts! A lot of happy faces in the pavilion as they win it in front of a sea of purple. This ground hasn't been a happy one for KKR for a long time but they show that they mean business this year!
15.3 Ravi Bishnoi to Phil Salt, full on middle and leg, tapped back gently
15.2 Ravi Bishnoi to Shreyas Iyer, quick googly on the pads, doesn't get any bat on it but takes the single off his pads
15.1 Ravi Bishnoi to Phil Salt, loopy ball on middle and off, driven to mid-off
Another over where the ball barely touched the grass and the Knight Riders need just 6 more runs to win this game. This has been a really harsh outing for the Lucknow bowlers and KKR are going to notch up their first ever win against Lucknow in the IPL.

14.6 Mohsin Khan to Phil Salt, full on the off, Salt stays still to drive it past the bowler for one
14.5 Mohsin Khan to Shreyas Iyer, short and angling wide from the right-hander, he stands tall to cut it in the gap
14.4 Mohsin Khan to Shreyas Iyer, off-cutter on the off-stump, Shreyas dings it to mid-wicket
14.3 Mohsin Khan to Phil Salt, full on middle and leg, tucks it to deep fine leg for one
WOWWW!! That one went 50 rows back into the stands! Phil Salt is absolutely demolishing the Lucknow attack and he has deposited their best bowler into the stands! Shahrukh Khan approves too and Salt has been the "King" for KKR.
