Digvesh Singh (Player of the Match, Lucknow Super Giants): I am enjoying the way I am performing. My bowling is such that I like to attack the batters, and it helps him to grow into that role. I watched Sunil Narine, and since then, I decided to bowl. I will make my mindset more attacking and handle situations calmly like Narine. Before that was over, I spoke to you about whether we could have midwicket in place. I said do not have it in place, so he bowled a carrom ball, and that gap helped him play across the line and strike

Rishabh Pant (captain, Lucknow Super Giants): I think one thing is sure: that the wicket is playing well, we need to figure out what is working for us and what is not. At first we wanted a different kind of a wicket but then we decided to play on the wicket offered. We know a player of Marsh's caliber starts off well and gives the middle order a chance to play well. We wanted to play according to the situation, so our lower order batted well in the end. Mentally, it was tough for all of us. They kept the momentum going,g and we held our nerves to help the game end in our favor. He (Shardul) has been an amazing pick for us. Shardul Thakur, Lucknow Super Giants: There's always pressure when you're bowling the penultimate or the last over. Avesh bowled that brilliant over. End of the day that's what we're paid for, we're asked to do the job as professionals. Very happy to be at the winning side and execute correctly for the team. It was a tricky surface, sometimes you felt those slower ones would work but we saw boundaries being hit off them too. Eventually in the death overs it came down to who'd bowl the better yorkers. We see what's happened in the first half, but the pitch changes over the course of the game in the IPL and gets better in the night time. Up to the bowler as well as to how well he changes his line, length and variations. We need to have a lot of things in our kitty to be versatile there. He's a phenomenal bowler and a bit of character as well (Digvesh Rathi), that's what we need in the game. They're not afraid of expressing themselves when it comes to the 22 yards. I feel he expresses himself well, that's a strength of his. We've seen him bowl well in the practice games, and has been a bit of surprise this IPL. It does, red soil I feel the bounce is even, can trust the bounce. You need more skills as a batter on black soil when there's no dew.

Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians captain: Disappointing to lose, maybe in the field those 10-12 runs we gave were too much on this wicket. We just fell short in the end. I've always enjoyed my bowling, haven't had many options, tried to read the wicket well and take the smarter options. My mindset is to bowl more dot balls and create pressure and the batters make mistakes. Really enjoy my bowling, and today was one of those days. As a batting unit, we fell short, don't want to point out anyone. We win and lose as a team. If we want to take responsibility, we'd take it as a whole unit and I'll take ownership. That was obvious, we needed some hits, in cricket sometimes one of those days come when you try but it doesn't come off. The decision says itself why we did it (retire Tilak Varma out). Just play good cricket. I like to keep it simple, make better calls, take your chances in batting and play simple cricket with a bit of aggression. Don't think we are doing it right now. Long tournament, a couple of wins and you get the rhythm.

What a game for the Lucknow Super Giants. They get their second win of the season, and the Mumbai Indians fail to beat LSG for the third time in three attempts. To think they were so close to a win here and having botched the chance will hurt Mumbai Indians. A few tactical mistakes here and there for them, which they will look to reflect upon and try to improve in the next game.

Mumbai Indians were off to a shaky start, with the new opening pair being broken apart cheaply. Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav then steadied the ship and stitched a handy partnership in the middle. The duo played their shots and got the runs on board, with the run rate being healthy. After the first strategic break, Dhir was dismissed, but Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma batted in the middle.

SKY got to his half-century, but at the other end, Tilak Varma failed to connect bat to ball this evening. Hardik Pandya also did a fine job with the bat, but retiring Tilak Varma was probably the wrong call, with 22 needed off the last over. MI just got the six off the first delivery and then failed to get the big hits out of the middle as LSG won the game and made it two wins for them this season.

Lucknow Super Giants had their moments in the field, but their bowlers did a good job. Shardul Thakur, Akash Deep, and Avesh Khan picked up a wicket each but were expensive in their outings this night. Digvesh Rathi, arguably the find of the season for LSG, turned up with the ball in hand and restricted them during the middle overs. He conceded only 10 runs off the first three overs before he was hit for 11 runs in the last over.
