Thanks a lot for joining us- Mohul Bhowmick and Probuddha Bhattacharjee- for this exciting Melbourne derby in the KFC Big Bash League. Shaun Marsh's experience was enough to carry the Renegades over the line against the Stars, who just did not get enough runs on the board. Until next time, goodbye and take care!
Shaun Marsh (Player of the Match): It was a tough wicket just wanted wrap things off with a win. Obviously the last game for Finchy and it is good to finish off with a win. It is great to bat with Jake. He is a special talent and it is great to spend time with him in the middle. Not really, Jake has a good cricketing mind and can manage himself well. Also, it was important to win the match for the boys. Not really, I don't think I can go through another season. Finch is an absolute legend of the game. It is great to send him off with a win. Thank You!!!!
Melbourne Renegades beat Melbourne Stars by 6 wickets!
Although the Melbourne Renegades seemed to be behind the chase for the most part, they managed to get over the line quite comfortably in the end.
For this, they have Shaun Marsh to thank, who batted extremely sensibly and ensured that the bowlers of the Melbourne Stars could not come up trumps against him.
Aaron Finch's was the story that was most talked about today, but unfortunately, he got out cheaply and could not quite have the fairytale ending that he would have liked. As it turned out, it was his best mate Glenn Maxwell who clung on to his catch.
Marsh, however, stayed unbeaten till the end along with Jonathan Wells at the other end and made sure that the Renegades won the Melbourne derby and redeemed themselves after having lost the reverse fixture- a fourteen over-a-side fixture at the MCG last week.
And that will be that! Shaun Marsh, fittingly so, hits the winning runs for the Melbourne Renegades!
17.2 Scott Boland to Shaun Marsh, FOUR!!! That is it for the match!!! The Renegades have taken the W. Short ball at the off stump. Marsh stands tall and pulls it to the mid-wicket region for a boundary. A great send-off for the Renegades legend Finch.
17.1 Scott Boland to Jon Wells, back of a length ball at the off stump. Wells steers it to deep third for a single.
Ten runs came off this over. The Renegades need just four runs to win this game. The Stars appear to be deflated on the field. They look listless although skipper Maxwell is trying to cheer them on.
