The Sydney Thunder got the better of the Melbourne Stars and managed to get their first win of the season here. The Thunder were helped by the late assault by Daniel Sams and Nathan McAndrew, who made sure that they got over the line. Sams can be very proud of himself.

The left-arm seamer was responsible for giving away just two runs in the last over and picking up three wickets. He then walked out to bat in the dying stages of the game and ensured that McAndrew had the support he required to take his team over the line.
