Commentary

So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Pradeep. Do switch over to the all-important final WPL league game between Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz which will determine who finishes on top of the table. MI will be hoping for a UP win as that will take them directly to the final. Apart from WPL too, there are several other matches going on including the two ODIs (SA vs WI, ZIM vs NED) and ECL fixtures. So, enjoy all of those. Until next time, it is a warm good-bye!

Amelia Kerr, Player of the Match: Nice to get the win after last night where we didn't perform well. Shows the character of our team. Just pleasing to get the win before heading to the finals. Nice to contribute where I can and it went my way today. When I first got here first, I thought an economy of ten will be fine (Laughs). The pleasing thing was our Powerplay where Yastika and Hayley got us off to a great start. Unfortunately, we lost some quick wickets but we just wanted to get over the line from there. Pooja came in and showed her experience and there was no run-rate pressure too!

Harmanpreet Kaur: Winning is always important to get the momentum. When you lose, you have negativity around but our team was pretty positive. In the last two games, we were not able to do what we discussed during the team meetings. But, today we executed whatever we discussed and those things helped us. (Whether MI went for the NRR boost) First, winning the game was important. Otherwise, such things can pressure on the side. Before I got dismissed, the plan was to chase it in less than 15 overs. Amelia is always looking to do well for the team. She is also really important for the team! (Whether they will have an eye on the Delhi-Lucknow game) We will definitely go back and watch that game!

Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bangalore captain): We tried to fight till the 13th and 14th over, they needed a few in the end and Kanika bowled pretty well and we had a chat whoever goes for a boundary will come and bowl, I had to come on bowl in the end. One of those days as a fielder, catches follow you and happy that I was able to cling on to those four games but we were little below par today. No doubt we had a great team, balanced side as well but the way we started wasn't good in the first four or five games. I take the blame on myself, failed to give starts but sometimes franchise cricket, things don't go your way. Will work harder and come back strong next season. We have found amazing young skills in terms of Shreyanka and Kanika, they have showed to be fearless with the bat, bowl or on the field.

So, five wides and it is and MI win. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side finally register a four-wicket win as they reach the top of the points table. 126 was never going to be enough to defend for RCB and the opening duo of Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews got off to a good start albeit with a lot of luck on their side. Hayley, in particular, reviewed an LBW decision off the very first delivery while she was also caught off a no-ball courtesy Sophie Devine's bowling.

The 53-run partnership was eventually broken by Shreyanka Patil as she had Yastika caught at mid-on in the sixth over. A few balls later, Megan Schutt got rid of Hayley while Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur also didn't last for long. At 73-4, the pair of Amelia Kerr and Pooja Vastrakar had to rebuild and they did so pretty comfortably. With just one hit away, Kanika Ahuja dismissed Pooja Vastrakar and Issy Wong but it was too late by then for RCB. Kerr remained composed and took MI over the winning line with 21 balls to spare.

This victory has put MI at the top of the points table for now. However, if Delhi Capitals win the final league game against UP Warriorz, then MI will have to play the Eliminator!

Mumbai in a rush to finish things off have lost two wickets now. Short and skids on the batter as Wong skips down the track to swing across the line. Miscued it straight to Mandhana who takes a sitter.

That went miles up in the air but Mandhana at extra-cover kept her eyes on the ball, it came swirling down but she manages to cling on, brilliant catch. Vastrakar skips down the track to finish things off but skied it and perishes.
