The Sher-e-Punjab began shakily in the powerplay as they managed to score just 28 runs and lost two wickets early on. It was a tough phase for them as they fell behind the run rate and from there onwards they couldn't comeback into the game.

Neeraj Tiwari led the fightback along with Taranjit Singh but the asking rate was always going to be extremely tough and that meant that the acceleration from the duo was a little too late although Tiwari's knock did ensure that the Sher-e-Punjab get to some sort of respectability.

The bowlers like Kamal Raiz bowled exceedingly well early on in the innings and managed to keep the economy rate under 6 in their spell. Gunasekara picked up a couple of wickets while the likes of Rajith, Udayange and Siriwardena picked up a wicket each.
