So right then, this brings us to the end of our coverage for the final of the Bengal Pro T20 League. Sad that it had to end this way but you can't control mother nature, can you? The T20 World Cup final is coming up in a few hours time and make sure to follow Sportskeeda for the game and for many more sporting actions. For now this is me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Pradeep. Goodnight!
10:35 PM local time: Right then, the rain has had the final laugh and the match has been abandoned. Both teams have been declared joint winners.
10:25 PM local time: The entire ground is still covered, the intensity of the rain has reduced but it's not looking good at the moment.
09:50 PM local time: Looking at the visuals, the rain is heavy and the entire ground is covered. We're still not sure about whether or not the resumption is going to happen anytime sooner. Fingers crossed!
09:40 PM local time: Still nothing from the middle, that means only one thing that it's raining incessantly and that is not good news at the moment. Stay tuned for more!
09:07 PM local time: All of a sudden, it has started to rain and the covers are coming on. It has come out of nowhere to be honest and the groundsmen are rushing in with the covers.
1.1 Writtick Chatterjee to Koushik Ghosh, FOUR! TOP SHOT! Floated a length delivery outside the off-stump, Ghosh reaches and slaps it over covers, runs away and finds the ropes.
Writtick Chatterjee, right arm off break comes into the attack.
That's the end of the opening over from Bhoirob De Sarkar and the two Murshidabad openers and trying to fight fire with fire here. They don't need to do anything fancy. Sensible batting for the majority of the innings should see them through.

0.2 Bhoirob De Sarkar to Koushik Ghosh, BIG APPEAL FOR LBW, TURNED DOWN! Might've been sliding down leg. Length delivery, angled in on the leg-stump. Ghosh went for the slog sweep and misses, pings on the pad.
0.1 Bhoirob De Sarkar to Koushik Ghosh, drops it short, just outside the off-stump. Ghosh goes back and cuts it into the turf but straight to backward point.
Koushik Ghosh and Aditya Purohit to open the innings for the Murshidabad Kings. Bhoirob De Sarkar, right arm off break to start off proceedings with the new ball. A slip in place for the left-hander. Here we go......
Right then, we are all set to get underway with the run chase. The two umpires have made their way out in the middle followed by the two openers from the Murshidabad Kings. Mukesh Kumar giving the final pep talk. They need to bowl tight line and lengths to make a match out of it.
Sabisco Smashers Malda have scored 116/8 in 20 overs, Murshidabad Kings need 117 runs to win
It turned out to be an extraordinary bowling performance from the Murshidabad Kings as they managed to restrict the Sabisco Smashers Malda to a below par score of and should definitely back themselves to chase this down quite comfortably.
It was the Murshidabad Kings who won the toss and opted to field. Out came Ranjot Singh Khaira and Jayojit Basu in the middle and the duo started well. Khaira in particular got their side off to a flying start, smashing three fours and a six en route to his knock of 21.
Jayojit took his time early on but the wicket of Khaira opened the floodgates for Murshidabad to keep chipping away with the wickets. Jayojit was the next to depart before a terrible mix up cost Writtick Chatterjee his wicket. Wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals and it seemed no way back for SSM.
Saurabh Singh then provided some stability towards the end, scoring a 24 ball 20. Towards the end, it needed some lusty blows from Ayan Bhattacharjee and Bhoirob De Sarkar to take the score to 116/8 at the end of the 20 overs. Dilshad Khan and Jeet Thakur was the pick of the bowlers bagging a couple of wickets each.
