Commentary

Right then. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have officially been knocked out of the tournament. South Africa are in the driving seat now, while Australia and West Indies need a few results to go their way. That's all we have from the coverage of this match. Match number two isn't far away and you can just switch tabs to catch all the action from that one. Temba Bavuma (South African captain): It was a good day for us. Quite a lot in the wicket early on. Our fast bowlers, KG and Nortje were able to exploit it. Good effort from us with the ball and with the ball as well. It excites us (swing on offer). It reminds us of conditions back at home. We are blessed to have those guys running in with the new ball. It's never easy when you have one guy bowling 150 and another guy in KG who's got all the skill in the world as well. We wanted to get the score in a good time, but the conditions were a bit tricky. The ball was still nipping around but you have to try and stay positive and try to pounce on a loose one. It's a big game (against England), looking at the competition the way it is, we want to play our best cricket. England have had the better of us of late and we would like to make amends.

Mahmudullah (Bangladesh captain): The wicket was pretty good to bowl first up. We didn't help ourselves enough in the middle. That was a poor batting display but having said that, there was enough assistance for the bowlers. Taskin has been bowling very well in this tournament. We had the choice between Taskin and Fizzy, but we wanted to give a chance to Taskin because he has been bowling well. It's frustrating, but we were close to winning two games. It could have been a different story if we won two games.

Kagiso Rabada has been adjudged the Man of the Match for his fiery spell of bowling, 4-0-20-3!

Rabada talking to Mark Nicholas at the presentation says, obviously the wicket favored the seamers, I'm just glad that today was my day. Every time we had the opportunity to practice, we try and implement whatever could possibly work for us. We always train hard and obviously it paid off for us. Nice to see some swing again, especially in a T20 format, having played a few IPL games here, we've seen quite a bit of movement early on with the new ball. Wasn't a surprise that this wicket actually did that, it has been doing that at time for quite a period. From what I understand, this is quickest wicket in the tournament, there's a bit of steep bounce, some balls skid through, some take off, bit of two paced. Nortje has been in form from a long time now, he's just riding the wave, I'm happy for him, his hard work is paying off.

It was a clinical performance from the South Africans throughout this game. The bowlers did the damage early on and Bangladesh just couldn't recover at all from thereon. Rabada, Nortje and Shamsi were right in the thick of things as the Proteas bundled out the Bangla Tigers for 84.

The South Africans would have perhaps liked to chase this one down quicker than they did, but at the end of the day, they've got 2 crucial points on the board. Their march for the semi-finals continues as they face England in a few day's time. As for Bangladesh, they're bowing out of the tournament. Whatever outside chance they had of going through has been diminished and they'll only have pride to play for when they face Australia.

On rare seamer-friendly conditions, Bangladesh stood no chance against the kind of show Nortje and Rabada put on. As a result of this emphatic win, South Africa's net run rate is now up to 0.742, which is better than Australia's at the moment. After a bit of a wobble caused by Taskin Ahmed, Bavuma held steady to see his side over the line. With that, the South Africans stretch their unbeaten against Bangladesh in T20Is to six wins now. Full delivery skids into Miller as he comes forward and hammers it over the vacant mid-wicket region to pick up the boundary. South Africa totally dominated Bangladesh today and get themselves another step closer to qualifying to the Semi-Finals!
