"Jadeja ko hi khelne de, warna Dhoni aa jayega" - Fans react as Pat Cummins withdraws appeal against Ravindra Jadeja in SRH vs CSK IPL 2024

Back-to-back wins at home for the Orange Army. They sure have played an integral role in contributing to the trend of dominance of home sides thus far in this year's IPL! However, their next assignment will be an away game - Punjab Kings at Mullanpur. The Chennai Super Kings head back home - they'll be next seen in action on Monday, hosting the Kolkata Knight Riders. The team in yellow desperately missed the services of two of their finer foreign talents in Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman - they'll be eager to see them back on the field as soon as possible.

Abhishek Sharma has been adjudged the Player Of The Match! Here's what he has to say: We felt the wicket is a bit slow, if we could get a good powerplay we could go along nicely after that. We had a chance to prepare well ahead of the IPL. We knew it was a bit slow, bit difficult for the bowler as well, though, if we take him on. Big scores really matter, I just went with the flow. It's all the hard work I put in, special thanks to my dad, Yuvi paaji (Yuvraj Singh), and Brian Lara for this.

Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain: Different soil, slowed up a bit as the game went on. A fantastic game. Luckily we've got plenty of fast bowlers, Shivam was hitting them pretty well against spin, thought I'd take a chance with some off-cutters. First kind of thing is to always get the points. Looks pretty fun, I wouldn't want to bowl to him. Try and give him freedom, he's doing his job brilliantly. The crowd was crazy tonight, especially when MS walked in tonight, was as loud as I've ever heard it. Good conditions, now we have five more games at least (at home).

Aiden Markram: (On the pitch) Not too bad, not equivalent to how it was against Mumbai. When the ball got older, it started to slow up. We saw it when we bowled. For the first ten overs, it was coming on alright. When we batted, we really wanted to take on the first ten and get into a good enough position, and then take it from there. (On his approach) Not too much, I don't want to think too much. More about see-ball-hit-ball, trying to just react. That is encouraged by everyone (the team management and the captain). When you get on tricky wickets, you still have to value the batter who is in and that position. On good wickets, you are allowed to be free and that is what the Impact player rule creates. (On whether SRH are a batting team or a bowling team) Not sure what you mean but I will just go with batting (laughs).

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chennai Super Kings captain: It was the slow nature of the pitch, they kept the game in control. We could not capitalise at the back end. 80-2 at the half way stage, we were in a good position but they came back well. It was a black soil pitch so we kind of expected the slowness. As the ball got older, it got slower and slower and we could not capitalise. They used the conditions well. We did not have a great powerplay, with one catch dropped and a big over. Still, to drag it till the 19th over, we did great. 170-175 is still a par score. If we had a great powerplay with the ball, we would have had this game in our hand. (On what he would have done had he won the toss) There was slight dew in the later stage of the match but even then, Moeen was spinning the ball in the 15-16th over, so it would not have made much of a difference.

As it turns out, the start that they had proved to be a decisive factor in the Sunrisers Hyderabad taking their time and coasting past the line. The middle-overs of spin seemed to keep the SRH middle-order quiet - there were quite a few false shots on show as well. At the end of it, the CSK camp would be ruing the fact that they were a few too many short - 20 more runs from them would have made up for an immensely interesting contest given how things panned out in the chase!

While Travis Head walked in as an impact player, it was Abhishek Sharma, the batter, who had the biggest impact in the game eventually. The left-hander held the game by the scruff of its neck, absolutely dug into the pace that was on offer for him, and kept clubbing them to all parts of the ground. The CSK pacers - impact player Mukesh Choudhary in particular - was all over the place with his line and lengths, and went for 27 in what turned out to be his first and only over of the game today.

While a top catch from Ravindra Jadeja off Chahar put an end to Abhishek Sharma's onslaught, the damage was already done. Aiden Markram and Travis Head built on the start provided by Abhishek, and the hosts had 78 on the board at the end of the powerplay. It was only after the powerplay that Gaikwad turned to his spinners for good, and it was only then that CSK found a way of keeping the batters mum.

SRH went a good six overs without a boundary shortly after the departure of Travis Head, and while the required rate was hovering at around a run-a-ball at the time, the CSK spinners, with their miserly line and length, were doing a great job in applying the squeeze. The pressure got to both Markram and Shahbaz Ahmed, both of whom were caught in front looking to reverse.

Even Heinrich Klaasen, a prolific hitter of spin, seemed to struggle dispatching slow bowling away on this track. However, Nitish Reddy found some handy boundaries at the other end, took the hosts close, and the Andhra boy finished proceedings off with a towering hit down the ground. They took it really late, but the Sunrisers Hyderabad finish things off with time to spare! Lots to ponder for CSK - some of their tactical decisions backfired on them badly.

18.1 Deepak Chahar to Nitish Reddy, REDDY FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE! Slower ball that lands right in the slot on middle and off. Reddy cannot believe his luck. He plants his front foot and smokes it clean over the bowler's head. SRH cruise to victory, and CSK have now lost two on the bounce!

Dropped chance? Yes. Wasn't hit all that cleanly - quicker reflexes from Deshpande would have sealed it.
