There's a nice wind coming across the ground, helping in keeping a bit of cool because the humidity between those gusts of wind is quite severe. Pitch number seven, which hasn't been used at all this IPL will be in use today. The boundary is 61 meters away from a right-hander towards square leg, 72 meters towards the point region (facing from the pavilion end). 77 meters down the ground. The pitch looks dark compared to some of the other pitches. The surface is extremely hard, it's black clay. It'll hold together really well. Expect a bit of bounce for seamers, not a lot of turn at all for spinners. The only defence for the spinners will be that huge boundary. Seems a 175-180 type of wicket, can be more given the blueprint of Sunrisers Hyderabad - to score massive. If they win the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad will have a bat, put a big load of pressure. The groundsman says there won't be any dew.

From ten, we went to four, then three, and now, we have the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Sunrisers Hyderabad in contention for the coveted trophy. It has been almost a decade since either of the two teams have laid their hands on gold - come Sunday, both teams sure will fight tooth and nail to lay claim on it! Right then! The Rajasthan Royals got so many things right over the course of the league phase - they were on top of the table for a long, long time, but once their grip on that top spot began loosening, the Royals began losing steam in their campaign as well. They showed enough fight to claim a spot in the second qualifier with a win over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but didn't have the goods to replicate the same tonight.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad seemed to be on the back foot going into the run-chase, but the way they fought back with the ball and on the field was truly admirable. They sure will take the momentum into the final - SRH will also have the advantage of having played a playoff game on this venue, as one of our viewers suggested. What a turn-around this has been from the Orange Army! A re-match, a high-voltage contest, a clash for the ages await us on Sunday!

Shahbaz Ahmed has been adjudged Player Of The Match! Here's what he has to say: The captain and coach had a chat with me, they said we'll put you to use as per the situation. This is my role, to play down the order, and so, they used me down the order. To be honest, I had a feeling there was something on this wicket when I was batting, the ball was stopping a bit the way Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma were bowling towards the latter stages of the first innings. Feeling really proud to receive the player of the match award in such a big game. Enjoyed the journey thus far, the atnosphere around the team has been relaxing, there hasn't been much pressure. (On celebrations tonight) Feels really nice. I'll relax tonight and celebrate only once we win the final.

Pat Cummins (Sunrisers Hyderabad captain): The boys have been fantastic all season, there's been a great vibe around the team, you could see the way they played. Final was the goal at the start of the tournament - we made it. We knew our strength was our batting, so were were pleased to lose by pushing our boat a bit with our batting. I wouldn't underestimate the experience in the side with the likes of Nattu (Natarajan), Unadkat, Bhuvi, makes my job very easy. (On who's decision it was to send Shahbaz as impact player) Daniel Vettori, left-arm ortho(dox) - likes sneaking in as many left-arm orthodox spinners as possible. (On Abhishek's performance with the ball) That was a surprise, tried to sneak one out of Abhishek with a couple of right-handers. He bowled beautifully, there was a lot of grip, and those two in tandem, won it for us. 170-odd turn into tough chases. Couple of wickets and you never know. I never pretend to work out these conditions, different every week. For the whole franchise, there's 6 or 7 of us in the coaching staff who put their heart and soul into this team. Really gratifying for them all.

Anupam: "A journey from bottom to top from SRH. From finishing at the bottom last year to reaching the finals this time. This is a great turn around from SRH. Can they go a step further only time will tell."

Abhishek Sharma (Sunrisers Hyderabad): To be honest, I didn't know it was going to be for this match, but I was ready (to bowl full quota of overs). I've been working hard on my bowling with my dad, been working on my batting the last two years. Special mention to my dad. When we were batting, it was a bit quicker, turned a bit afterwards. Patty (Cummins) used the spinners pretty well, it was all his plans, it went pretty well. It's the pressure I put in the practice session is why he gave me the ball, it was a slow wicket at the end, so I was getting a bit of spin. Me and Shahbaz had similar plans, make batters go on the back foot. Worked for us. We (Punjab) won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this season, there's plenty of Punjabis in the team. So that momentum came from there. As an individual, I was confident going into the IPL the way I practiced. The conversations we had in the dressing room made it obvious that the batters are going to get a lot of freedom. Once you have that from your captain and coach, it's always better to go out and express yourself. 100 percent (looking forward to the final), it was a dream to play a final, it's coming true this year.

Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals captain: (Where it went wrong) I am really proud of the way we bowled. We were found short of options against their spin in the middle overs and that is where we lost the game. Very hard to guess when dew is expected or not. The wicket started behaving differently in the second innings. They used that very well, bowling spin to our right-handed batters. That is where they went one up against us. Against the left-arm spin, our right-handers, with the ball was stopping, maybe we could have tried more reverse sweeps and probably used the crease more. (On the season overall) To be honest, we have had some brilliant games. Not just this season but in the last three or four years. We have found some great talent for the country. Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel - all of them are looking exciting, not just for RR but also for India. (On Sandeep Sharma) I am very happy for him. By not being picked at the auctions to come in as a replacement, he has definitely delivered. If you look at the numbers, he would be the next after Bumrah. He has done a great job (for us). (On the final and who will win) These conditions suits both of them. The way SRH bats in the powerplay, they can take the game away. The way KKR have played, they look exciting. It should be a great game and that is what the IPL has been giving us for 16-17 years.

With the wicket offering quite a lot of pace and bounce, the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Pat Cummins had a pivotal role to play with the new ball. While Bhuvneshwar was a touch erratic with his line, the SRH skipper stuck to his usual lengths, causing a bit of discomfort to the RR opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tom Kohler-Cadmore. The latter felt it more - Kohler-Cadmore couldn't stay still in his crease and negotiate the hard lengths, he tried to hit out and perished off Cummins.

Jaiswal proceeded to cut loose in the final over of the powerplay, and despite a rocky start, the Royals were well placed at the end of the first six - having piled 51 on the board. It was after that the true nature of the wicket was on show - Shahbaz Ahmed, having been brought on to bowl the 8th over, found quite a lot of help from the deck - both grip and turn, and four balls into his first over, he got Jaiswal to hole out to long off.

Having seen the assistance for spin, Cummins employed more left-arm spin in Abhishek Sharma from the other end, and the results came along immediately. Samson tried to pull a quicker one from a length, didn't time it right, and Aiden Markram produced a tremendous effort to complete the catch. Shahbaz and Abhishek kept things tight across the halfway mark, and the wickets came along - Parag had a swipe, holed out, and Ashwin, having been promoted up order, was brilliantly held by Klaasen behind.

Dhruv Jurel kept up the fight even as wickets continued to tumble. He took Shahbaz and Abhishek Sharma on in their respective final overs, and kept going with his onslaught with some truly dazzling stroke-play. He brought up a fighting half-century of his own, but owing to the lack of support from the other end, Jurel's efforts proved to be inadequate for the Royals.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad showed tremendous fight and character - especially with their fielding, and having clinched a satisfying win in a knockout clash, the Orange Army is all set for a summit clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday at this very ground.
