The first game of the day was quite a ride. Though, this is only the beginning. 4 more exciting matches to be played in ECS France 2024 today. The next one commences in about 10 minutes. It was Darpan Tikiya and Bidipto Dutta bringing you the action from this game.
Mitry beat Villeneuve Super Kings by 3 wickets
Muhammad Arlsan 49 (18) | Muhammed Shafique 2/23 Suventhiran Santhirakumaran 41 (15) | Piratheep Gunarasa 3/29
Mitry lost a wicket in the first over. But despite that, they seemed to be motoring along to the target. In fact, the bonus point was too well within reach. Thanks to a brilliant innings from Muhammad Arlsan who lit up the ground with his clean striking.
But you know the cliche, "it is never over, until it is actually over." And suddenly, the game started shifting. Dramatic as it may be, Mitry lost 4 wickets in 7 balls giving the Super Kings a sniff. However, they just did not have enough on the board.
In the end, the Super Kings do pick up one point from this match. But they will go back wondering what could have been. Remember, they too lost 5 wickets in 3 overs in their batting innings. A bit better application, a few more runs, and you never know what might have happened.
8.2 Suventhiran Santhirakumaran to Shahzad Umar, AND THAT DOES IT! SIX TO FINISH THE MATCH AS MITRY WIN! Length ball on the pads. Flicked away off the legs over deep backward square-leg for a maximum!
8.1 Suventhiran Santhirakumaran to Muhammad Shafique, back of a length on off-stump. Patted down to long-off off the back foot for a single.
Skipper to take the responsibility in his own hands. Suventhiran Santhirakumaran [1-0-16-0] runs in.
Both Piratheep Gunarasa and Keethan Jeyakumar were carted around the park in their opening overs. However, they have come back well to turn the game on its head.
