WWE NXT Live results recap, and grades: A FORMER Champion returns; ANOTHER backstage attack while last week's ATTACKER revealed!

OVERALL GRADE FOR WWE NXT (DECEMBER 10TH, 2024): B-.
The in-ring stuff was hit or miss with the North American title match and main event tag team bout easily outclassing the rest of the action. Evans and Lee was good but predictable since Lee may be on his way to the main roster. The promo segments were average but Shotzi's return and Eddy Thorpe working the system were nice surprises.

HANK WALKER and TANK LEDGER defeat Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont by pin.
JACY JAYNE and JAZMYN NYX defeat Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley by pin.
TONY D'ANGELO defeats Ethan Page by pin.
ROXANNE PEREZ and CORA JADE defeat Giulia and Kelani Jordan by pin.

Even when Cora Jade wins she seems to lose . . .

Stephanie Vaquer comes out for revenge after being attacked by Jade earlier in the night. She blindsides Cora in the ring and chases her away through the crowd.

Backstage, Eddy Thorpe signs the contract for next week's NXT Title match with Trick Williams. Ava says she'll see him there but says they'll still look for his attacker. He admits that he did it to himself so he didn't have to wrestle for 25 minutes at Deadline.

Not the most heroic, but when you get pushed to the side so many times like Ava did to Eddy, you have to come up with alternate plans.

Jade and Jordan are left in the ring, and Jade actually doesn't get pinned. She hits a DDT on Jordan for the win.
Result - Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade defeat Giulia and Kelani Jordan by pin.

GRADE: B+

There was much better action than the other women's tag team match. Everyone matched each other's moves and counters. The action was seamless, and it felt like either side could win, especially since Cora Jade was in the match. The chaotic bit before the finish was too quick at times to follow, but it worked since everyone hit their spots.

Giulia hits a Saito Suplex before hoisting Perez on her shoulders. She drops Perez and Jordan hits a Frog Splash. Jade breaks up the pin. Kelani goes for a move but Perez counters it. She tags Jade in. Perez goes for a move but is pulled out of the ring by Giulia. Jade knocks Giulia off the top with a big knee. Jordan hits Jade with a move on the outside. The Champ hits Pop Rox on Kelani on the outside. Giulia takes Perez out after Pop Rox.

She blasts the Champ with a big boot while she's trapped in the bottom ropes. The Beautiful Madness adds a Hammerlock Suplex for a near fall. She tries to repeat the move but Roxy counters out of it. Giulia counters Pop Rox, leaving the two women to trade punches in the middle of the ring.

Perez and Kelani battle off the commercial break. The Champ hits Jordan with a Suicide Dive. Vic actually compliments her too, saying she's held the NXT Women's title for the third-longest amount of combined time. Jade tags in to exchange forearms with Jordan. Perez goes for an elbow but Kelani blocks it. She sends Jade over the top. Giulia tags in.

Introducing All Doubt Ethan Page. Imagine how much better Charlotte Flair angles would have been if she had some self reflection.

Giulia tags in and has a brief staredown with Roxy. Giulia pulls Roxy's hair, and the ref doesn't stop her. Jade enters the ring to distract her instead. Cora then tags in and nearly gets rolled up. Kelani comes in for her team. Jordan lands a handstand back elbow. Giulia goes for Meteora in the corner, but Jade pulls her out of harm's way.

Jade and Perez rush Giulia before the match officially begins. Jordan rushes out and can't do her pose because she needs to help her tag team partner. The faces easily get the upper hand as Jordan lands a Pescado on Jade and Perez on the outside.

FrAxiom will defend the tag titles next week against Gallus. Yay. Sol Ruca teams up with Zaria against Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson.

Ethan Page walked out of the arena, he was stopped for an interview but he said talked down about himself saying he was ashamed and left.

Backstage, Lexis King talks to former NFL QB Ryan Leaf. He thanks Leaf for providing a blueprint to change the narrative around your life. King also thanks Leaf's work with mental health. Leaf praises King for turning things around and potentially doing the same. Charlie Dempsey walks by and grants King another shot at the Heritage Cup in two weeks - if he can endure an NQCC training session.

The Don goes for a fishermen's buster but Page counters out. He lands a big strike, but Don kicks out. Page goes for the Ego's Edge but D'Angelo counters out. The combatants battle on the top rope in front of the Family. Page lands a kick off the buckle before hitting a Cutter for a two-count. He starts to lose it when he cannot finish the job. He goes for the Ego's Edge again, but D'Angelo counters into his modified Uranage for the win.
Result - Tony D'Angelo defeats Ethan Page by pin.

GRADE: B+

Page and D'Angelo had great chemistry and the best match of the night so far. Page's anxiety helped sell the match better than usual.

Notably, Page looked to be on the verge of tears post-match.

D'Angelo is back in control of the commercials. Page fights back with a knee of the top for two. He adds a power slam for another quick two-count. The Don slows him down with a side suplex. He hits some strikes and a series of belly-to-belly suplexes. Page punches the Champ to evade a Spinebuster. Page goes for a big boot, but D'Angelo reverses his direction and hits a Spear for a near fall.

D'Angelo controls All Ego in the early stages, but things break down when The Don clotheslines Page over the top and falls out with him.

Tony D'Angelo defends the North American Championship against Ethan Page next. The entire Family accompanies D'Angelo, so it'll be hard for All Ego to cheat and win. Probably another loss and descent into Karate Man territory.

Frazer and Axiom talk backstage. Axiom claims he got a match with Oba Femi for next week. Frazer says he said he felt bad about Axiom carrying the team at Deadline, so he went for a tag title match next week. They'll have two matches again next week. They aren't happy.

Fatal Influence attacks Dolin and Paxley after the match until Shotzi makes her triumphant return!!! She levels the playing field and adds some green to the festivities. Dolin and Paxley hold the ropes up so Shotzi can hit Fatal Influence with a Suicide Dive.

Paxley hits a small crossbody on both opponents in the corner. She lifts Jayne up for a Burning Hammer, but Henley pushes her off the top buckle when she goes to the top. Jayne hits a rolling forearm on Paxley to pick up the win.
Result - Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx defeat Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley by pin.

GRADE: C+.
The quality, unfortunately, went down when Nyx came into the match. Paxley and Jayne are always clean and carry the action. Gigi is usually clean but didn't have chemistry with Nyx.

Dolin and Paxley team up on Nyx early on. Dolin hits a few dropkicks to send Nyx out of the ring. Nyx sends Dolin into the ring post before tagging in NXT's resident banshee. She lays down some punches on her former tag team partner. Fatal Influence goes for a tandem move with Nyx supposed to hit Dolin but it's botched. Gigi tags in Paxley after Jayne whiffs on a move.

Paxley had a green-haired doll when they were walking to the ring. Is Shotzi coming back??

So who did lay out Eddy Thorpe before Deadline if it wasn't Oba Femi?

Fatal Influence talks about how Gigi is back for revenge but can't agree on which type of revenge. Gigi and Tatum then head to the ring, but Gigi tries to let Tatum know they're still outnumbered 3-to-2. Shawn Spears and his lackeys then wish Gigi and Tatum good luck in their tag team match after Izzi Dame interrupts them. Spears tries to manipulate Dame, but she storms off after saying she knows how impressive she is. The last person who claimed to be impressive didn't have the best luck...

Thorpe yells at Trick for not being the locker room leader or asking Oba about the attack. He's lost respect for Trick because all that's 'under Trick's hood' is a manufactured sports entertainer. He wouldn't last two weeks in the Japanese dojos Thorpe started in.

Thorpe gets cut off as usual when Trick says he beat Ilja after being a sidekick. Again, a face completely disregards some viable reasoning coming from a heel. Trick decks Thorpe after agreeing to face Eddy next week.

Eddy was left embarrassed here.

Trick says a title's legacy isn't defined by how long you hold it (Roman Reigns) but by who you beat as the champ. Femi says the only reason Trick has been the champ is because he allowed it.

Trick and Oba stare each other down but are interrupted by Eddy Thorpe, who was taken out of the Iron Survivor Match. He says that Oba's attack last week took him out next week, but because he's a "Bad*ss, he can do whatever he wants."

He didn't see the attacker but knows it was Femi because only one person in NXT has that type of power. Femi brushes him off and then talks to Trick. Trick acts like Eddy isn't in the ring. He paces while they ignore him.

He says he stormed through the competition and will reclaim his spot as Ruler of NXT at New Year's Evil in four weeks. Femi calls out Trick, and he obliges. How will Booker T pick a side???

Up next is Oba Femi gloating about how he Brock Lesnar'd his way into winning the Iron Survivor Challenge.

Igwe's just mad he didn't go for a fistbump.

After the match, Hank and Tank extend their hands and Dupont shakes them. Igwe refuses and walks out.
GRADE: C+

The match was good in short spurts but the transitions were greatly lacking. Both sides missed a few spots despite hitting impressive power moves. It's why neither team was even close to being worthy of a title shot. They should have started racking up wins but that's the case when all of your tag teams have less than two years of wrestling experience.

Hank shields Tank from a buckle blow, allowing him to hit Tyriek with a Lariat. Hank tags in and hits Dupont with a few clotheslines in the corner. He adds a splash on Igwe on the outside. Hank hits Dupont with a Bossman Slam before the Machinery boys hit a tandem powerslam finisher to pick up the win.

Result - Hank Walker and Tank Ledger defeat Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont by pin.

At one point, Hank went for a splash in the corner, but Dupont was out of position, which led to an awkward botch.

Igwe and Dupont isolate Hank after he tags in. Hank and Tank fight back with some splashes on Tyriek in the corner. They land their Honk Honk pancake splash. Igwe battles back with a bodyslam and side suplex. Dupont hits a big splash for two. He adds a spinning back elbow before tagging Igwe back in.

The next match pits Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, aka Heavy Machinery 2.0, against Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont.

Kelani thinks she'd eat Cora for breakfast . . .

Zaria and Sol Ruca watch from backstage and talk about how big a rush the Iron Survivor Challenge was. The Meta Ladies then come over to stir the pot and say that they would have won if they were in the match. Sol and Zaria stand up for themselves after the unsolicited interruption.

Could Sol and Zaria be a team moving forward? It was definitely teased!

We next get a promo from Josh Briggs and Inamura. Inamura loves that Briggs is crazy and Briggs likes that he's a grown man, unlike his previous partner. They want to set the tag division on fire. They show footage from Pro Wrestling NOAH, which goes against old Vince McMahon rules.

Sarah Schreiber then talks with Giulia and Kelani about an update on Vaquer's "condition" after the attack from Cora Jade. Giulia screams in Japanese and Jordan "translates" because she's tired of Roxy and Jade walking around like they run NXT. Roxy is the champ, so she kinda does. They imply Stephanie will be okay.

Backstage, Axiom and Nathan Frazer give each other props for their performances at Deadline. Axiom also apologizes to Nathan for doubting him. They're both mad that Oba Femi randomly popped up and entered the match. They both want to "make it right" since they had to qualify for the Iron Survivor Challenge at Deadline.

Guess Wes Lee is heading for the main roster now.
GRADE: B+
The two men have great chemistry but Evans should mesh more mat-based attacks into his arsenal. He's still learning but Lee losing puts him in a weird spot. Good storytelling.

Evans goes for another springboard move, but Lee pushes the ropes to trip him. He rolls Evans up with his feet on the ropes. The ref breaks it up. Lee hits a Tornado DDT and the Cardiac Kick, but Evans kicks out at two. Lee is enraged and gets blasted with another kick. Evans lands another superkick before hitting a Corkscrew Plancha for the win.
Result - Je'Von Evans defeats Wes Lee by pin.

Both men are atop a buckle coming off a commercial break. Evans blasts Lee with a Superkick after evading a move. He adds a flipping kick before going for another springboard move for a near fall. Je'Von goes for a suplex, but Lee blocks it. He grabs the ref to bust out of it. The two men exchange punches and forearms. Evans goes for a powerbomb but Lee counters into a Hurricanrana. Lee lines up a move but is hit with a standing Spanish Fly. Evans hits the sit-out powerbomb he was going for.

The crowd has erupted with "NXT" and "This Is Awesome" chants for this one.

All Ego just wanted some of those breadsticks with the title shot . . .

Evans sends Lee from the ring. He goes for another high-flying move instead of continuing the assault. Lee then kicks him out at the legs before hitting a Tope Con Giro of his own.

Evans rushes Lee off the bell. They trade punches until the ref breaks it up. The Bouncy One hits a fiery Suicide Dive on the outside as the battle continues on the outside. Lee hits Evans with a dropkick after he goes for a springboard move. Vic asks Booker why Wes Lee has changed so much. Booker says losing the title is a big part before calling him the best North American Champ of all time. Vic questions him, claiming it was Femi despite Lee winning the title more than once.

At one point, Wes throws Je'Von into the barricade, and he lands hard on his neck.

Lexis King and Charlie Dempsey talk backstage. King says his wrestling has improved over the last few weeks. He asks for another shot at the Heritage Cup, but Dempsey says he'll think about it. Baby Regal then praises his cohorts for their performances at Deadline. OTM then interrupts them to stir the pot. Wren brings up that she'd have been hit with Lola's back fist instead of Jaida. Jaida then tries to talk more trash.
