Minecraft 1.20 Update has been released on 7th June 2023 on the Java Edition and can be downloaded it from the official Minecraft store. Here is the Minecraft 1.20 update trailer:

What is the Minecraft 1.20 The Trails & Tales Update for Java Edition and when will it be released?

The Minecraft 1.20 update is centered around representation and inventiveness but the official statement distinguished itself from previous years’ update announcements. This was due in part to earlier anticipated mechanics and additions never making it into the game, fans were given fewer specifics than in prior years even though it was disclosed during Minecraft Live. The Minecraft 1.20 Update is called The Trails & Tales Update.

To prevent issues they faced in the past from occurring again, Mojang has only confirmed features this year that is almost ready to launch, with experimental features already accessible in snapshots.

The Cherry Blossom biome will be made available as part of the upgrade. Cherry Blossom trees cover the entire biome, turning the landscape a stunning shade of pink. The wood may be used to create and build a variety of different goods, while the saplings can be used to move the trees outside of their biome. Only the Java edition will have access to the Cherry Blossom biome; Bedrock will get it later.

Archaeology

The new archaeology system in the updated version of Minecraft, which allows you to unearth ancient bones and eggs, is one of the most eagerly anticipated features. These eggs have the potential to develop into the upcoming Sniffer mob. Patches of dubious sand blocks may surround Desert Temples; by removing them with the new brush tool, one can expose equipment that is concealed.

New Mobs

Mojang has confirmed the arrival of two new mobs in version 1.20 of the game. One is the sniffer, which won this year's community mob vote, and the other is the Minecraft camel, which Mojang selected as a new desert-dwelling mount.

Since the sniffer won the Mob Vote in 2022, gamers have been eagerly anticipating its release. Sniffer eggs, which can be discovered in suspicious sand along with objects like pottery shards, must be sought out in the Overworld. More information will probably become available when the creature's appearance draws near, although it's unclear how long a sniffer's hatch timer is or what may be done to speed up the process.

Camel

In addition to supporting two-player saddles (which is a first for Minecraft mounts), the camels provide a unique riding experience with a "dashing" ability in place of a high jump. The new passive mob is typically found in desert communities and has a variety of distinctive animations. Camels are also tall enough so that when players are riding them, hostile mobs cannot reach them.

Armor Trimming and Customization

The armor trimming function is one of the latest additions. Players can apply these patterns to give their favorite suit of armor a fresh new look. There is a lot to learn about Minecraft's armor trimming thanks to a recent post by Mojang's developers and the efforts of players enjoying the latest snapshot.

All armor with an iron quality or higher can have a number of trims added using a smithing table. However, these trims are only decorative and have no practical effect on gameplay.
