Denny Hamlin is not only a racer but also the owner of a fairly successful team in NASCAR. Michael Jordan is one of the oldest friends of Hamlin. The name 23XI is a combination of Jordan’s jersey no. 23 and Hamlin’s car no. 11. 23XI has a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing.

In 2020, it was announced that Michael Jordan-Denny Hamlin NASCAR Team 23XI Racing will be competing full-time with a single car from the 2021 season. Bubba Wallace was their first driver and he gave the team their very first victory at Talladega on October 4, 2021.

In their second season, 2004 NASCAR Cup Series Champion, Kurt Busch joined the Michael Jordan-Denny Hamlin NASCAR Team. The arrival of Busch meant that Monster Energy would now sponsor Team 23XI.

Kurt Busch led them to their second victory at the Kansas Speedway, leading 116 out of 267 laps during the race. Kyle Busch was later on replaced by Tyler Reddick who joined 23XI after Busch’s retirement from NASCAR

The 23XI racing team has sported three cars during its time in NASCAR. The 23XI Racing team was immensely successful during its 2024 championship campaign. Their no.45 driver Tyler Reddick managed to secure the NASCAR Cup Series Regular Season championship in 2024.
