Tommy DeVito shone for the New York Giants late last season while their top QB choices were dealing with injuries. With solid performances by DeVito, his agent, Sean Stellato, also gained notoriety. Now, Stellato has shown up with Pope Francis and NFL fans shared their takes.

Stellato, apart from representing DeVito, has previously represented 19 Super Bowl champions through his agency, Stellato Enhanced Sports.

On Wednesday, Stellato was in Vatican City as he met the Pope and handed him a custom football. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported:

“Tommy DeVito’s agent Sean Stellato met today with the Pope. He gifted the Pope a custom football with the Pope’s coat of arms emblem.”

This report on X (previously Twitter) made fans curious and excited at the same time, as the pairing seemed random to many online.

“Hrm that’s wild”

Some football fans disapproved of Stellato's meeting with Pope Francis.

“Disgusting. The pope is an evil person and a scammer of the Christian faith.”

Other fans commented on the fame that Stellato has gained in such a short period. Even when Tommy DeVito is not playing, Stellato has captured the imagination of football fans.

“I need a movie about this man rn," wrote one fan.
“The legend grows," wrote another fan.

One fan took into account the Italian-American heritage of both Sean Stellato and DeVito, suggesting this meeting was a momentous occasion.

“This is a significant cultural moment that will stand the test of time," wrote a fan on X.

One fan expressed his curiosity about the custom football the Pope received.

“I wonder what the pope does with all the random gifts he gets," enquired one fan.

Will Tommy DeVito play for the Giants in 2024?

Late last season, as Daniel Jones and backup Tyrod Taylor got injured, the Giants relied on Tommy DeVito. The 25-year-old started six games with a record of 3-3 and got the franchise close to qualifying for the playoffs.

However, this season, Daniel Jones is fit and ready to take the starter position. Though Taylor was not re-signed by the Giants, they signed QB Drew Lock as a free agent. Lock has been named the backup QB behind Jones.

Circumstances like last year are the only way DeVito sees game time in this year’s regular season.
