Anand Pawar: A Brief Biography
Anand Pawar is a badminton player who is currently ranked 44 in the world as per the BWF world rankings, and is one of the best badminton players that India has in current times. The son of former international badminton players Uday and Sujata Pawar, it was only natural that he started wielding his racket at the tender age of 4. He initiated the first phase of his career playing in the smaller local & district level competitions. His breakthrough came in the form of his first international tournament at the World Junior Badminton championship that was held in South Africa. In 2003, he won the Single junior championships in India. At the age of 17, he won his first international title- the Czech junior title. In 2004, Anand won the Wimbledon Junior (under-19) Badminton championship at London. The same year, he also won a silver medal in the mixed team event at the Youth Commonwealth Games held at Bendigo in Australia..2008 proved to be one for the books as Anand won three interantional titles- Portugal International, the Austrian International and the Hungarian International. in 2010 he won the Scottish Open and the Maldives International. Though he competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics, he was not able to procure a medal for the country.
