Ariarne Titmus: A Brief Biography

Ariarne Titmus is an Australian woman swimmer born on 7th September 2000. She hails from Melton city of Queensland in Australia. Ariarne is a Freestyle specialist and represents Australia in 200m, 400m, and 800m Freestyle.

Background:

Ariarne Titmus was born to Steve Titmus and Robyn Titmus. She was born and brought up in Tasmania. Her father works as a media professional and her mother is a housewife.

Ariarne had a keen interest in swimming at a young age. She attended St Peters Lutheran College, where she began to pursue the sport by actively taking part in the swimming competition. In 2015, Ariarne, along with her family, moved to Queensland for better training opportunities.

In 2018, after graduating from St Peters Lutheran College, Ariarne enrolled at St. Patrick College. She is a member of the Dolphins Swim Team. Ariarne currently trains under Dean Boxell and represents St. Peters Western at the Australian Swimming Championships.

Rise to Glory:

Ariarne Titmus received her first career breakthrough at the 2017 Australian Swimming Championships, where she won two Gold medals in 400m and 800m Freestyle. In the 400m Freestyle, she was the first Tasmanian female swimmer to win the title in 40 years. In 2018, Ariarne took home three titles in 200m, 400m, and 800m Freestyle at the Australian Short Course Championships.

At the 2019 Australian Swimming Championships, Ariarne clinched 6 Gold medals in 200m, 400m, 800m Freestyle, 4x100m Freestyle, 4x200m Freestyle, and 4x100m Medley.

Ariarne Titmus holds the national records in 200m, 400m, 800m Freestyle, 4x100m Freestyle, 4x200m Freestyle, and 400m Freestyle (SC).

Major Achievements:

Ariarne Titmus made her international debut at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships, where she won the Bronze medal in the 4x200m Freestyle. In 2018, she clinched two Gold medals in 200m and 400m Freestyle and two Bronze in 4x50m Freestyle and 4x200m Freestyle at the World Swimming Championships.

At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Ariarne took home three Gold medals in 400m, 800m Freestyle, 4x200m Freestyle, and a Silver in 200m Freestyle. The following year, she was crowned as World Champion in 400m Freestyle and 4x200m Freestyle and also won a Silver in 200m Freestyle, and a Bronze medal in 800m Freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships.

Ariarne Titmus will look to qualify for her debut Olympics at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and can be considered as one of the strong contenders to win a medal in 200m, 400m, and 800m Freestyle.
