Blake Pieroni: A Brief Biography
Blake Pieroni is an American swimmer born on 15th November 1995. He hails from Chesterton city of Indiana in the United States. Blake specializes in Freestyle swimming and represents the USA in 100m and 200m Freestyles.
Background:
Blake Pieroni was born to Christopher Pieroni and Cathy Pieroni. Both his parents are former swimmers. His father swam for Purdue University and his mother was a member of the US Masters Swimming. He has a sister, April Pieroni, who is also a swimmer.
Blake was encouraged to take up swimming age by his parents. He went to Chesterton High School in his hometown, where he began to pursue a career in swimming. Blake became popular in high school after he led his team to two consecutive state titles in 2013 and 2014. He also holds National Public School records in 4x400m Freestyle and 4x200m Medley.
In 2014, after graduating from high school, Blake joined Indiana University and became a member of the college team. He had represented them at the NCAA Championships.
In 2019, Blake Pieroni passed out from Indiana University by obtaining a degree in Human Biology.
Rise to Glory:
Blake Pieroni made his NCAA debut in 2014 while representing Indiana University at the NCAA Division 1 Swimming Championships, where he finished 4th in 200m Freestyle, 5th in 4x800m Freestyle, and 14th in 4x400m Freestyle. The following year, he won his first senior medal by winning Bronze in 200m Freestyle at the US National Swimming Championships.
In 2017, Blake made it to the podium finish for the first time at the NCAA Championships with a Silver medal in 200m Freestyle. That year, in July, he won the Silver medal in 100m Freestyle at the US National Swimming Championships.
At the 2018 US National Swimming Championships, Blake Pieroni won his first senior national title in 100m Freestyle and two Silver medals in 200m Freestyle and 4x800m Freestyle. In the 4x800m Freestyle, he shattered the national and NCAA records by swimming 1:29.63s.
Blake Pieroni holds the national record with his US relay team for 4x400m Freestyle.
Major Achievements:
Blake Pieroni received his first international break in 2013 when he won the Bronze medal in 4x200m Freestyle at the World Junior Swimming Championships. Three years later, in 2016, Blake won two Silver medals in 4x50m Freestyle and 4x100m Freestyle and a Bronze in 4x200m Freestyle at the World Swimming Championships.
Blake made his Olympics debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he became the Olympic Champion in 4x100m Freestyle. In 2017, he won two Gold medals in 4x100m Freestyle and 4x100m Mixed Freestyle and a Bronze in 4x200m Freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships.
At the 2018 World Swimming Championships, Blake took home three titles in 200m Freestyle, 4x100m Freestyle, and 4x100m Medley. The following year, at the World Aquatics Championships, he defended his 4x100m Freestyle and 4x100m Mixed Freestyle titles
Blake Pieroni will look to make it to the US Olympic Team for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics via the US Olympic Trials and shall be in contention to win a medal in 100m and 200m Freestyles.
