Dong Ju Hong: A Brief Biography
Dong Ju who hails from Busan, Korea is a vital addition to the team. Being the former Captain of the Korean Kabaddi Team, Ju Hong has honed his skill set and is all set to play for the Bulls this season. This all-rounder started playing at the age of 24 and has almost 8 years of experience in the game.
Background
Dong was introduced to the game by the current national coach Jae-ho Cho at a training camp held to pick the Korean team back in 2010. He has had considerable experience under fine coaches at Gandhinagar's Sports Academy of India (SAI) centre. Dong is a martial arts trainer himself, but makes sure that his team meets regularly to practice and participate as much as they can.
Rise to Glory
Dong Ju was a part of the PKL from its debut season and is well-known for his composure while playing. Dong Ju Hong emerged as a prominent player when his team became the first team to defeat defending champions India at any World Cup.
Club Career
Hong has played for the likes of Delhi Daredevils and U Mumba in the Pro Kabaddi League.
Achievements
Captain of the Republic of Korea, Dong Ju Hong, stunned hosts India with last-minute win over Anup Kumar’s team in the Kabaddi World Cup 2017. Ju Hong got the credit for his composure under pressure and later in the tournament, spearheaded a dogged comeback against Bangladesh as Korea went from 0-10 to winning the game. Dong Ju was also a part of the team that won a silver medal at the Asian Games for Kabaddi played in Jakarta.
