Joseph Parker Early Life
Joseph Parker was born to Dempsey and Sala Parker, both of Samoan descent, on January 9, 1992, in South Auckland, New Zealand. His ancestors originated from the village of Faleula on the island of Upolu in the country of Samoa. Parker's father was named after the American boxer and former American heavyweight champion, Jack Dempsey. He was raised in Auckland's Mangere area and was a student at Hillsborough's Marcellin College. At the age of three, Parker showed his interest in boxing by jabbing into the palms of his father.
In his amateur record, Parker had 66 fights, being a two-time New Zealand amateur heavyweight title holder in 2010 and 2011. He had a number of tournaments that he won and also had several international victories.
