Robert Glenn Ray, popularly known as Robbie Ray, is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball (MLB). Robert had previously played for the Detroit Tigers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Toronto Blue Jays.
Robbie Ray was drafted by The Washington Nationals in the 12th round of the amateur draft in 2010. Robbie chose to sign with the Nationals, forgoing a scholarship to the University of Arkansas. Robbie made one appearance in his first professional season for the Vermont Lake Monsters of the New York-Penn League and pitched a perfect inning.
In 2012, Robbie was promoted to the Potomac Nationals of the Carolina League. Sadly, he ended up struggling there and as a result, finished with a record 4-12 with an earned run average (ERA) of 6.56. Despite his performance, he was rated as the Nationals’ #18th prospect by Baseball America.
