He hit .429 with four home runs as a junior, earning him the title of Los Angeles Times high school baseball player of the year. He participated in the Perfect Game All-American Classic at Petco Park and the Under Armour All-American Game at Wrigley Field in the summer of 2016, winning both competitions. Lewis spent his first three years of high school primarily playing outfield and third base, then switched to shortstop for his final year.
