Said Nurmagomedov was born in Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia, and started training at a young age to escape from bullies.
He made his professional debut in featherweight class on August 22, 2009, and won the fight via an armbar submission.
During his early years, Said Nurmagomedov competed in promotions ranging from Absolute Championship Berkut to World Fighting Championship Akhmat, where he was a bantamweight champion in 2016.
